October 16, 2017 Wrestling Observer Newsletter: WWE Hell in a Cell review, Tokyo Dome main event, more

Sami Zayn did a heel turn, moving Kevin Owens out of the way of a Shane McMahon elbow drop off the top of the cell, probably about 17 feet down and McMahon went through a table in the 10/8 Hell in a Cell PPV show.

McMahon went out on a stretcher and there were mainstream media outlets that reported on his storyline injuries as being real.

The four hour show was bookended by Hell in a Cell matches, opening with New Day vs. Usos, where the Usos regained the tag titles, and ending with McMahon vs. Owens. The two ended up being the matches that stole the show.

The other take was just how unimportant the WWE title felt, very much like a prelim title, in the Jinder Mahal title retention over Shinsuke Nakamura. Mahal, who is bothered by a shoulder injury (he has it taped up most nights but I guess they don’t want people to see it taped up on television), beat Nakamura clean to seemingly end their program.
