May 16, 2022 Observer Newsletter: Roman Reigns cutting back on WWE appearances, Kota Ibushi-NJPW issues

WWE’s biggest and most-pushed wrestler, the combined WWE and Universal champion Roman Reigns has reached a new agreement with the company that includes cutting way back on appearances.
Reigns, real name Leati Joseph Anoa’i, whose father Leati Sika Anoa’i was a 70s and 80s star as Sika of the Wild Samoans tag team, turns 37 later this month. On the 5/7 house show in Trenton, NJ, he said that this might be the last time he wrestles in Trenton and is going through a new phase in life. After the WrestleMania Backlash PPV, he teased that it might be the last time he teams with his cousins, the Usos, in a six-man tag.
Reigns’ exact schedule and details of it weren’t clear past that he will work television dates, but not every week, may not be doing house shows much longer or if so, very limited, and he won’t even be on every PPV show.
