What Is AAA Wrestling?

Founded in 1992 by Antonio Peña, AAA (short for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración) emerged as a vibrant alternative to traditional Mexican wrestling promotions. Known for its dynamic characters, elaborate storylines, and innovative match formats, AAA quickly gained popularity both domestically and internationally. The promotion has been instrumental in launching the careers of numerous wrestling stars, including Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero, and Psicosis.

AAA’s flagship event, Triplemanía, is akin to WWE’s WrestleMania, drawing massive crowds and featuring high-stakes matches. The promotion has also engaged in collaborations with various international wrestling organizations, further cementing its status as a global wrestling powerhouse.

WWE’s Acquisition of AAA

The announcement of WWE’s acquisition of AAA was made by Michael Cole during the WrestleMania 41 pre-show, with WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque and AAA executives Dorian Roldán and Marisela Peña present. This acquisition is part of WWE’s broader strategy to diversify its content and tap into new markets.

Upcoming Event: Worlds Collide

To celebrate this new partnership, WWE has announced the “Worlds Collide” event, scheduled for June 7, 2025, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. This special event will feature matches between WWE’s NXT brand and AAA’s top talent, showcasing the fusion of American and Mexican wrestling styles. “Worlds Collide” will be available for streaming on Peacock in the United States and on Netflix internationally, marking a significant milestone in WWE’s global broadcasting strategy.
