Before the calendar officially flips to the MMA new year with next week’s UFC debut on ESPN/ESPN+, there’s still a bit of business to take care of with the year we just wrapped up.

Among the things that happened:
- Daniel Cormier knocking Stipe Miocic to win the UFC heavyweight title to go along with his light heavyweight title
- The post-win confrontation Cormier had with Brock Lesnar and the feeling at the time that UFC was hot again
- The announcement that Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov was happening in October
- Max Holloway’s scary medical crisis that saw him pull out of his highly-anticipated title defense against Brian Ortega
- Tyron Woodley cementing his status as a great UFC welterweight with his dominant win over Darren Till
- Bellator’s champion vs. champion fight between Rory MacDonald and Gegard Mousasi that was fairly one-sided
- And, of course, plenty more.
