Figure Four Weekly: Rey Mysterio and avoiding missed opportunity

In his fourth match since returning from injury, Rey Mysterio took part in a gauntlet on last week’s Raw.
Ricochet won the gauntlet and will challenge for AJ Styles’ United States Championship at SummerSlam, but Mysterio was the focus of much of the match. Mysterio started by defeating Cesaro, got a quick pin against Sami Zayn after Zayn attacked him before their match started, and then lost to Andrade.
In a post-match angle, Andrade ripped off Mysterio’s mask. Their storyline then continued on Raw this week. At the end of another great bout, Andrade went to rip off Mysterio’s mask again. Zelina Vega interfered off of that distraction — and Andrade hit the hammerlock DDT to get the win.
Seth Rollins and Kofi Kingston have put on superstar-level performances in gauntlet matches in recent history. It seemed like WWE was going to try and repeat that with Ricochet here, but it was nice to see Mysterio and Andrade get a chance to shine.
