WWE still planning The Rock vs. Roman Reigns match for this year

  • Ian Carey

The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is still expected to happen in 2024.

Despite Cody Rhodes winning the men’s Royal Rumble and stating he wants to challenge Reigns at WrestleMania, WWE still has plans for The Rock and Reigns to have a singles match this year. It’s just not clear when and where the match will take place.

Our own Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez addressed the situation during today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer said:

It is going to be Cody and Roman Reigns in a singles match. A Dwayne and Roman Reigns match, whenever it is, is still happening. I just don’t know where.

And Bryan, you may know where, because you probably know discussions that I may know too and I can’t talk about them but anyway, the point is that it is still happening.

Rock vs. Reigns is not currently planned for next month’s Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, as Reigns is not scheduled to work the show.

The Rock appeared on ESPN’s First Take earlier this week and spoke about him and Reigns possibly headlining the biggest WrestleMania of all time.

Rock said:

Look, you guys know, I feel like you know me – I’m a long-gamer. I like to build. And what this is, if myself and Roman Reigns were to main event WrestleMania, and I mean this very respectfully of all the WrestleManias prior because I grew up in this business and I love it, we could possibly put on – with us as the main event and this incredible group of men and women who are these incredible performers – we could possibly put on the greatest and the biggest WrestleMania of all time.
