WWE star CM Punk books ‘key role’ in horror movie

WWE star CM Punk has booked a new acting role.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Punk will play a “key role” in the upcoming indie horror film Night Patrol. The movie is planned to be released in 2025. It’s directed by Ryan Prows with the cast featuring Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, RJ Cyler, Punk, Dermot Mulroney, Freddie Gibbs, YG, Flying Lotus, Jon Oswald, and Nicki Micheaux.

In the movie, a Los Angeles cop “discovers a local task force is hiding a secret that puts the residents of his childhood neighborhood in danger.”

The Hollywood Reporter provided some more details on the movie and the character Punk will be playing:

  • In [Night] Patrol, an LAPD officer (Fowler) must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs when he discovers a local police task force is harboring a horrific secret that endangers the residents of the housing projects he grew up in.
  • Long plays the officer’s partner, recruited as a legacy into night patrol. Cyler stars as the officer’s brother, who sees what he isn’t supposed to see, while Mulroney plays Long’s character’s father, a sergeant with many secrets. Punk rounds out the cast as the sergeant’s brutal right-hand man.

Punk signed with Paradigm Talent Agency this summer with the goal of expanding his presence in entertainment. He’s had several film and television roles since making his acting debut in 2019.

At Bad Blood on October 5, Punk settled his WWE feud with Drew McIntyre by defeating him in a Hell in a Cell match. Punk then appeared on the post-PLE edition of Raw and indicated that he would be taking some time off from WWE television. A feud with Seth Rollins was set up for when Punk returns.
