WWE SmackDown video highlights: Kevin Owens, Matt Hardy return

Two wrestlers returned to WWE television on this week’s SmackDown, and WWE announced a new Fastlane challenger for Daniel Bryan.

The episode opened with Vince McMahon announcing that Kevin Owens is replacing Kofi Kingston as Bryan’s opponent at Fastlane. The storyline was Vince saying Kingston isn’t as deserving as Owens, with Vince saying he needs to give the fans the “highest caliber competition” and “biggest box office” possible.

Owens teamed with Kingston later in the night to defeat Bryan & Rowan. Kingston took out Rowan with a dive, then Owens hit a stunner on Bryan and pinned him.

This was Owens’ first match since having double knee surgery in October 2018.

Matt Hardy also had his first match since September. He made a surprise return in his home state of North Carolina, teaming with Jeff Hardy and defeating Cesaro & Sheamus.
