WWE SmackDown & Main Event spoilers: Ambrose & Zayn vs. Rollins & Owens

Battleground’s key feuds were furthered on what the WWE hopes will be the last taped SmackDown in a while, but the biggest news of the night may have come in the opening dark match with Neville defeating Bo Dallas with the Red Arrow in his return from a fractured ankle earlier this year.

Main Event —

– Jack Swagger, Apollo Crews, & The Golden Truth def. The Vaudevillains & The Ascension

– Becky Lynch def. Alicia Fox. Natalya was on commentary during the match.

– Usos & Cesaro def. Dudleys & Alberto del Rio: D-Von tapped out to the sharpshooter when Bubba couldn’t make the save.

– Sheamus def. Titus O’Neil with the Brogue Kick

SmackDown —

The show opened with a series of interviews with Kevin Owens, Charlotte, and Dean Ambrose.

– Sasha Banks def. Dana Brooke with the Bank Statement. WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte attacked Banks and threw her onto the announcers table and then stood over her, raising the belt.

– Dolph Ziggler def. US Champion Rusev in a non-title match. Ziggler won with a roll-up when Rusev was distracted by Zack Ryder. Rusev started throwing all kind of furniture around after.

– They replayed the Wyatts-New Day confrontation and announced New Day vs. Wyatts in a six-man tag at Battleground.

– AJ Styles & Karl Anderson def. Enzo Amore & Big Cass when Styles made Enzo tap to the Calf Crusher. Crowd was into both teams.

– Kalisto def. Tyler Breeze with the Salida del Sol.

– Next was Miz TV with Darren Young & Bob Backlund. They aired a career highlight video of Backlund. Backlund got a big reaction. Miz then said to show a career highlight video of Young. They showed a test pattern, which was funny. Miz started insulting Young. Backlund stood up for Young and Miz and Maryse talked about how he was old. Young defended Backlund and vowed to teach Miz a lesson at Battleground. Miz ended up backing off.

– They sold the idea that Charlotte injured Banks’ neck earlier in the show. Charlotte said that Banks won’t get a title shot, but will get a tag team match against her and Brooke and told her to find a partner. With the draft coming, it is interesting timing with possible call-ups on the horizon.

– WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose def. Kevin Owens by DQ. Seth Rollins was at ringside. Short match ending when Rollins interfered. Zayn then came out to save

– Seth Rollins & Kevin Owens def. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose & Sami Zayn when Rollins pinned Zayn after a Pedigree.
