WWE Raw video highlights: Thank you, Roman

Roman Reigns opened last night’s episode of Raw by announcing that he’s battling leukemia.

Reigns revealed that he’s been living with leukemia for the past 11 years, and unfortunately it has returned. He relinquished the Universal Championship and said the best thing to do is focus on his family and his health. But Reigns clarified that he wasn’t giving a retirement speech.

“Because after I’m done whooping leukemia’s ass once again, I’m coming back home,” Reigns said. “And when I do, it’s not going to just be about titles and being on top. No, it’s about a purpose. I am coming back because I want to show all of you — the whole world. I want to show my family, my friends, my children, and my wife that when life throws a curveball at me, I am the type of man that will stand in that batter’s box. I will crowd the plate, I will choke up, and I will swing for the fences every single time. Because I will beat this and I will be back, so you will see me very, very soon.”

Reigns posed with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on the stage. WWE also uploaded a video where Reigns was greeted backstage by members of the roster.

Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel will decide the new Universal Champion.

Later in the night, Ambrose & Rollins won the Raw Tag Team titles from Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre. The show then closed with an angle where Ambrose turned against Rollins and laid him out by hitting Dirty Deeds on the floor.
