WWE Raw video highlights: CM Punk’s return promo

“Looks like hell froze over.”

CM Punk took the microphone in the main event segment of last night’s Raw and cut his first WWE promo in nearly a decade.

After returning to the company at Survivor Series, Punk addressed the crowd on Raw last night, declaring that he’s back home in WWE. Punk said that, over the nearly 10 years he was gone, the fans never forgot him. They never stopped chanting his name. Punk said he’s missed the fans and he loves them. He’s proud of the voiceless for finding their voice.

“I’ve come back to this familiar place and I didn’t know how I was going to react. And I didn’t know how it was going to go,” Punk said. “But it has made me feel like my old self, because this is where I belong. This is home. And I’ve been gone for 10 years and over [those] 10 years, you people never forgot me. Even when maybe I wanted to forget me. And that’s powerful. You are all powerful.”

Without mentioning his name, Punk referenced Paul Heyman.

“I wish I could say I never had to leave,” Punk said. “But once upon a time, a wise man told me for me to get everything I need out of this place – I’d have to leave and come back. Hate to say the wise man was right.”

Punk said almost everyone backstage has welcomed him back with open arms, but he knows some wrestlers are afraid.

“Everything I’ve ever wanted has always been here. The competition here, week in and week out, competes to be the best in the world,” Punk said. “But the Best in the World has not been here for almost 10 years. I understand being afraid. They’re afraid that I just set the bar to an unattainable level. They’re afraid that the brass ring is in my back pocket and they can’t grab it. They’re afraid that the most dangerous and controversial, feared man in this industry just walked through the front door and there’s nothing that they can do about it.”

Punk stated that the Best in the World is back and his name is CM Punk.

Before Raw went off the air, Punk looked into the camera and said he’s not here to make friends, he’s here to make money.

Though they didn’t interact directly last night, it’s clear that WWE is building toward a future match between Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rollins is also still feuding with Drew McIntyre and has a title defense against Jey Uso set for next Monday.
