WWE Raw video highlights: Brock Lesnar attacks Cody Rhodes in front of his family

With his family watching on from the front row, Cody Rhodes was demolished by Brock Lesnar on Raw last night.

The episode took place in Rhodes’ hometown of Atlanta. Rhodes opened the show and wanted a response to his SummerSlam challenge. Rhodes called Lesnar out to the ring, but Lesnar refused to make his way out. Rhodes assured Lesnar that he’d be waiting for him all night if that’s what it took.

Rhodes then directed the audience’s attention to his mother in the crowd. Rhodes called his mother “the woman that built me,” crediting her for being the person who made him a fighter and taught him to always get back up.

While Rhodes was hugging his mother and other members of his family, Lesnar’s music hit. Rhodes was ready for a fight, but Lesnar didn’t come out. The music hit again, but Lesnar still wasn’t there.

Lesnar then attacked Rhodes with a steel chair as he entered the backstage area. Back at ringside, Lesnar laid out Rhodes with an F5 in front of his family. Lesnar put Rhodes in a kimura twice before finally accepting his SummerSlam challenge.

SummerSlam is taking place in Detroit on Saturday, August 5. The card for the pay-per-view began to take shape last night with Rhodes vs. Lesnar and Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor being made official. Ronda Rousey vs. Shayna Baszler was also set up for SummerSlam.
