WWE Raw ratings up for taped show from London
The difference of live or taped in pro wrestling continues to be somewhat overblown, since last night’s Raw show did 2.35 million viewers, the best in three weeks and up five percent from last week.
It wasn’t that the show was better, or even a sign WWE is making a comeback. The increase is more indicative of not having the NBA playoffs against them, like the past two weeks.
The show had a 19.3 percent first-to-third hour drop, which is among the worst in history, so it was more people who came back for the first hour, and a higher base for the rest of the night, returning from having watched the NBA.
The only sports competition was the San Jose Sharks vs. St. Louis Blues NHL playoff game on NBC Sports Network that did 1.39 million viewers.
Raw placed sixth on cable, trailing only news shows on Fox News and MSNBC.
This coming Monday will go head-to-head with the NBA’s best drawing team, the Golden State Warriors, in game four of the Western Conference semifinals against the Portland Trailblazers. Raw may be helped coming a day after Money in the Bank, so it shouldn’t drop to the record low levels of the past two weeks.
This show in particular cratered with women. In the first-to-third hour drop, women 18-49 were down 32 percent, men 18-49 were down 17 percent, teenage girls dropped 33 percent, and teenage boys dropped 21 percent.
The reason the overall drop wasn’t worse was because of the over 50 audience, the majority of the viewers, sticking with the show at a higher rate.
The three hours were:
- 8 p.m. 2.58 million viewers
- 9 p.m. 2.39 million viewers
- 10 p.m. 2.08 million viewers
