WWE Raw ratings down on Memorial Day

The Memorial Day episode of Raw averaged 1.50 million viewers overall and drew a 0.42 rating in 18-49, making it the second-lowest total audience in the history of the show in its regular time slot on USA Network. The 18-49 number was not in the bottom 10, however.

Memorial Day was the likely reason since last year’s Memorial Day Raw did 1.56 million viewers, also among the lowest of all-time. It had no NBA competition but the New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes NHL playoff game did 2.79 million viewers and a 0.90 in 18-49, which are amazing numbers for the NHL on cable.

The lowest viewer total on USA was 1,472,000 on July 5, 2021, also a holiday weekend edition of Raw.

Raw did well in the 18-34 demo but not so well everywhere else.

With the holiday, Raw had a weak first hour, improved in hour two, and fell in hour three to 1.40 million viewers, which was the third lowest hour three in history on USA. The February 7 episode that aired against the Olympics on Syfy also drew lower numbers overall and in hour three with 1,387,000 overall and 1,337,000 in hour three.

Raw was still second to the NHL on cable. With the networks in rerun mode except Fox, the low Raw still beat every show Monday night on television except the NHL game on ESPN. The highest rated network show did a 0.31 in 18-49.

Raw was third in women 18-49 behind the NHL game and Below Deck, second in men 18-49, second in 18-34, second in women 12-34, and second in men 12-34. Raw was 10th for the night in total viewers on cable behind the NHL and news shows.

Raw was down 14 percent from last week in viewers, up two percent in 18-49, and up seven percent in 18-34. So the big drop was mostly with people over 50.

As compared to Memorial Day last year, the show was down four percent in viewers, down two percent in 18-49, and up 15 percent in 18-34.

When you factor in homes lost by USA, the real numbers as compared to last year would be up three percent in viewers, up five percent in 18-49, and up 22 percent in 18-34.

In the first-to-third hour comparisons, women 18-49 stayed even, men 18-49 dropped 11 percent, teenage girls increased 10 percent, teenage boys fell four percent, and people over 50 fell eight percent.

The three hours were:

  • 8 p.m. 1.50 million viewers
  • 9 p.m. 1.59 million viewers
  • 10 p.m. 1.40 million viewers
