WWE provides storyline update on Randy Orton following SmackDown

WWE has an update on Randy Orton.

On social media, WWE shared a storyline update after Orton took a piledriver from Kevin Owens on Friday’s SmackDown, indicating he would be out indefinitely.

“Randy Orton has been diagnosed with a cervical cord neurapraxia, following a vicious attack on SmackDown from Kevin Owens,” their statement reads. “There is no timetable on his return.”

Orton on Friday demanded that Owens come to the ring for a confrontation after their match at Crown Jewel turned into a brawl. Owens appeared and the two brawled as security ran in to break it up. During the scuffle, Owens managed to plant Orton with the piledriver. Orton ended up being stretchered out of the arena and put in an ambulance.

Owens has been on a tear since Bad Blood, attacking Cody Rhodes outside of the arena following the premium live event after choosing to team with Roman Reigns. Orton attempted to settle the issues between the two, but Owens soon turned on Orton after accusing him of choosing Rhodes’ side over his.
