WWE NXT video highlights: Tommaso Ciampa returns to action

For the first time since undergoing neck surgery in March, Tommaso Ciampa returned to the ring last night.

Ciampa faced Angel Garza in the opening match of last night’s NXT. He was surrounded by the Undisputed Era in the post-match angle, with them giving a USB drive to Mauro Ranallo. When the video on it was played, it was revealed that they had laid out Velveteen Dream backstage.

Dream was supposed to challenge for Roderick Strong’s NXT North American Championship next week. William Regal announced that Strong would instead defend his title against the winner of Keith Lee vs. Dominik Dijakovic, but that set up a triple threat for next week after Strong caused Lee vs. Dijakovic to end in a no contest.

Pete Dunne vs. Damian Priest headlined last night’s episode. New challengers also continued to emerge in the women’s division, with Io Shirai and Tegan Nox joining Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair in wanting a shot at NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler.
