WWE moving September 17 SmackDown to Knoxville, Tennessee

WWE is moving the Friday, September 17th SmackDown to Knoxville, Tennessee.

The news was first reported by PW Insider.

Originally scheduled for Atlanta, Georgia, the State Farm Arena announced on Friday that the show was canceled. Dave Meltzer noted in Sunday’s daily update that roughly 1700 tickets had been sold which was the impetus for the decision.

The change has yet to be officially announced by WWE which is assumed to be at the Thompson-Boiling Arena — home to the University of Tennessee basketball teams, concerts and other live events.

The Friday Knoxville date will be followed by a Saturday live show in North Charleston, South Carolina, and a Sunday live show date in Augusta, Georgia. They will also kick off their mini-UK tour on that Sunday as well.

This marks the second date change for WWE in the last week as an August 8th house show in Gainesville, Georgia was canceled last week.
