WWE Main Event from Providence (taped 4-21-15) during the go-home week leading to Extreme Rules featured the Lucha Dragons clashing with The Ascension. While Brock Lesner may preside over Suplex City, Lucha Dragons must preside over Springboard City as they did springboards all over the ring. Elsewhere on the show was #Axelmania running into retro Fandango and the success of Brie Mode causing a temper tantrum. Furthermore, the show featured hype for Extreme Rules, though not as much hype as other go-home shows.

Before the first match, Curtis Axel cut a promo on Fandango. Axel said not to change the channel because Axelmania is running wild (as the crowd acted mild). Axel went on to talk about “AXtreme Rules” before mocking Fandango by dancing. Axel gyrated his hips to almost no heat at all.

Fandango beat Curtis Axel

After some early drop downs and running the ropes, Axel ran into a dropkick so he bailed out of the ring. Fandango dived over the ropes onto Axel on the floor. Moments later, Axel knocked Fandango off the apron and he crashed into the barricade. Axel got heat on him briefly until Fandango fired up. Fandango climbed to the top turnbuckle but was crotched. He and Axel slugged it out before Fandango did a sunset flip into a powerbomb. Fandango followed that up with a legdrop off the top for the pinfall. A large portion of the crowd was doing the Fandango dance afterwards.

Brie Bella beat Alicia Fox

Brie was all smiles as the happy-go-lucky babyface. Before the match, the announcers (JBL and Rich Brennan) plugged the Bellas being on the cover of Muscle & Fitness Hers magazine. Alicia dominated on offense at the outset until Brie fired up and delivered a running bulldog. Alicia cut her off with a backbreaker. Alicia executed a northern lights suplex with a bridge. Brie made a comeback and Brie Mode ran wild (the flurry of offense that is and not the drunken rampage seen on Total Divas). Brie jumped off the middle rope with a missile dropkick. Eventually, Brie hit an X-factor for the pin. Alicia threw a temper tantrum after the match.

Stardust beat R-Truth

Stardust dominated from the start and worked over Truth until a comeback. Stardust went to cut him off and Truth ended up out on the apron. Truth tried for a sunset flip back into the ring. Stardust sat down on him, hooked Truth’s legs and grabbed the middle rope for leverage in scoring the pin.

Lucha Dragons beat The Ascension

Beforehand, Ascension cut a promo on the Dragons. According to them, they do not like the Lucha Dragons. Furthermore, they claimed the only language they speak is the language of destruction (besides the English they were speaking at the time obviously). They bragged about slaying dragons and chewing on the bones. So there’s that.

In the match itself, Sin Cara and Viktor started. After a tag, Sin Cara picked up Kalisto for a wheelbarrow and tossed him into a senton. As the Ascension looked to pummel Kalisto, he made a tag. Sin Cara went springboard crazy with one off the top into a flying headbutt, one into a crossbody off the middle rope, another into an armdrag and a lionsault onto both Konnor and Viktor. Sin Cara missed a charge into a corner thusly he crashed and burned hitting a ringpost before a commercial.

After the break, the Ascension got heat on Sin Cara. Eventually, Kalisto came in off the hot tag. He ran wild and did some springboards of his own. Kalisto gave Viktor a hurricanrana into a DDT for a nearfall that saw Konnor make the save. A moment later, Sin Cara dove through the ropes and through the legs of Kalisto to the outside to take out Konnor. Kalisto executed the Salina del Sol (sliced bread no. 2) on Viktor for the pin.
