WWE Calgary, AB, live results: Owens vs. Rollins; Zayn vs. Jericho

Submitted by Jon Bell from the Stampede Corral
– Neville defeated Bo Dallas
This was a fairly short match, and Neville won with the small package. Curtis Axel came out after that match, said he believed in Bo, and challenged Neville to a match right there.
– Neville defeated Curtis Axel
The bell rang, Neville knocked Axel down, hit the Red Arrow, and won.
– R-Truth & Darren Young defeated Titus O’Neil & Jinder Mahal
R-Truth won the match for his team by pinning Mahal.
– Braun Strowman defeated Sin Cara
Strowman got a surprising amount of cheers when he first came out. Sin Cara got a small pop when he came out, but then nothing else during the whole match. The match lasted about twice as long as their Raw match from a few weeks ago, and Sin Cara was surprisingly competitive against Strowman.
– Raw Women’s Champion Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte
Banks got a big pop. No Dana Brooke at ringside, and Sasha retained with the Bank Statement.
– Raw Tag Team Champions The New Day defeated The Club, Cesaro & Sheamus, and Enzo & Cass in a fatal four-way tag match to retain their titles
New Day had the second biggest pop of the night, and they won by hitting Midnight Hour on Anderson. During the match there was a “Sheamus sucks” chant, and Sheamus got mad and shook the ropes. Afterwards he turned to Cesaro who shrugged and gave him the DX crotch chop. Both looked like they were having fun playing to the crowd.
– United States Champion Roman Reigns defeated Rusev
The crowd started off being a 60/40 split in favor of Reigns, but towards the end of the match it shifted to more support for him. Lana put Rusev’s foot on the rope to avoid a pin and was thrown out, which the whole crowd booed like crazy. Reigns beat Rusev by hitting him with a great looking spear that got a huge pop.
– Bayley & Alicia Fox defeated Dana Brooke & Nia Jax
The crowd was totally dead until Bayley got the hot tag at the end of the match. Bayley hit the Bayley-to-Belly on Brooke for the pin.
– Sami Zayn defeated Chris Jericho
Jericho easily got the biggest pop of the night. He got on the mic and talked about how Calgary didn’t even deserve to get put on the list but Edmonton did to get heat. He got lots of boos then, but was cheered a lot throughout the match.
Before the match started, they did a comedy bit with Jericho’s scarf. Zayn took it from him, and blew his nose on it and wiped his armpits with it, then gave it back to Jericho. Jericho stood looking down at it in his hand, then collapsed to his knees and wailed at the sky. The crowd loved this and laughed along. At one point in the match, Jericho got tired of the Y2J chants and flipped the crowd off which I thought was interesting. Zayn pinned Jericho with the Blue Thunder Bomb.
– Seth Rollins defeated WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens by DQ
This was the only match to get “this is awesome” chants. Jericho ran down and attacked Rollins for the DQ finish. Zayn made the save, and hit the Helluva Kick on Jericho. Rollins did a crotch chop at Owens and pedigreed him.
After the best friends left, Zayn got on the mic and said that Rollins was the best wrestler in the company, and Calgary should know a thing or two about great wrestlers. He also said Rollins is a great wrestler whether you like him or not. Rollins took the mic and said “Calgary…you’re alright” and dropped the mic and left, high-fiving people on the way out.
