WWE announces storyline suspension for Ronda Rousey

Coming out of SummerSlam, WWE has issued a storyline update on Ronda Rousey.

WWE announced on Monday that Rousey has been fined and suspended in storyline following her actions after losing to Liv Morgan at SummerSlam. Rousey attacked the referee after her SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Morgan ended in a disputed finish.

WWE noted that Rousey won’t be appearing on SmackDown this Friday due to the suspension. She’s been fined “an undisclosed amount” of money.

Morgan retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Rousey at SummerSlam when the referee counted a pin as Rousey had an armbar applied on Morgan. Morgan tapped out before the referee counted to three, but the referee didn’t see it.

Rousey attacked Morgan and the referee after the match and put both in armbars.

An irate Rousey attacked the official after her SmackDown Women’s Title Match, claiming he missed Liv Morgan tapping out to the Armbar while he counted the pinfall.

Due to her suspension, Rousey will not appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.

Rousey lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Morgan at Money in the Bank last month when Morgan cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase.
