WWE announces King of the Ring, Queen’s Crown tournaments

The King of the Ring and Queen’s Crown tournaments are set to begin next Friday on SmackDown.

WWE confirmed tonight they will be holding two tournaments: the men’s King of the Ring and the first-ever Queen’s Crown women’s tournament. A brief commercial aired saying that after the two tournaments begin next Friday on SmackDown, they will continue the following Monday on Raw.

It was reported back in August by Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast that the King of the Ring, along with a women’s tournament, would be taking place in October. Zarian also reported at the time that the finals for both tournaments would take place at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view event in Sadui Arabia, though WWE has not confirmed this.

The last King of the Ring tournament was held in 2019, when Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable to become the King of the Ring. He then changed his name to King Corbin and would continue with the moniker until earlier this year, when he lost his crown to Shinsuke Nakamura.
