WWE announces Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton Hell in a Cell match

Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton’s next title match will take place inside of Hell in a Cell.

WWE announced tonight that McIntyre will defend his WWE Championship against Orton in a Hell in a Cell match at this month’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. The PPV is taking place on Sunday, October 25.

Tonight’s Raw opened with Orton cutting a promo backstage and addressing his attack on Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Big Show, and Christian from last week. Orton said McIntyre still has hell to pay. He challenged McIntyre to a Hell in a Cell match, telling McIntyre that he can cement his legacy if he survives one more WWE Championship match against Orton. McIntyre then attacked Orton and beat him down until officials broke things up.

McIntyre did an interview later on tonight’s Raw accepting Orton’s challenge.

McIntyre retained his WWE Championship against Orton at both SummerSlam and Clash of Champions. At SummerSlam, McIntyre pinned Orton with a backslide. McIntyre defeated Orton in an ambulance match at Clash of Champions. Michaels, Big Show, and Christian all got involved during the match, and McIntyre won after hitting a Claymore and a punt. Flair drove off in the ambulance after McIntyre closed the doors.

This is the second match to be confirmed for Hell in a Cell. Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Jey Uso in a Hell in a Cell match at the PPV. It’s been set up that Reigns vs. Uso will have “the highest stakes that any match has ever had in WWE history,” but the details of that haven’t been revealed.
