Women’s title exchange ‘appears’ to be set for WWE SmackDown

WWE is teasing that a Women’s Championship exchange will take place on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

Tonight’s SmackDown is the first show where WWE’s post-draft rosters are in effect. With SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair each moving to the opposite brand, a resolution is needed for their titles.

WWE announced this afternoon that Lynch and Charlotte exchanging their title belts “appears” to be set for tonight’s SmackDown:

SmackDown could very well have a new Women’s Champion on its season premiere, and so will Raw! As Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch prepare to swap rosters, it appears a WWE Women’s Championship Title Exchange will take place tonight on SmackDown to ensure a smooth transition. Will Flair become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion and Big-Time Becks become Raw’s new Women’s Champion? Find out when it all goes down tonight at 8/7 C on FOX!

Lynch retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks in a triple threat match at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Thursday. Charlotte defended her Raw Women’s Championship against Belair this Monday, with the match ending in a disqualification when Charlotte used a steel chair.

In 2020, The New Day and The Street Profits swapped their respective Tag Team title belts when they changed brands in the draft.

Tonight’s SmackDown is taking place at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas. WWE has announced that there will be a coronation for Xavier Woods on the show following his King of the Ring tournament win at Crown Jewel. Brock Lesnar has also promised to “beat Roman Reigns senseless” the moment Lesnar arrives at tonight’s show.
