Update on Seth Rollins after WWE Raw injury angle

Bronson Reed

The new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter includes an update on Seth Rollins after the injury angle that took place on WWE Raw.

Rollins was demolished by Bronson Reed in an attack on Raw this Monday. In the Observer, Meltzer writes that the angle was to cover for a legitimate injury that Rollins is dealing with. Though Rollins is cleared to wrestle, he’s banged up and is expected to miss some time.

“Rollins is cleared but is still banged up and is trying to get in the best physical condition,” Meltzer wrote. “His issues are chronic but not at the point to getting flagged. He’s trying to stay ahead of the things so will be taking a little time off. We’re not sure if he’ll be back for the PPV or not, but if he is, it would now seem to be with Reed and not with [CM] Punk, which makes the Punk finish even more just a way to get out of a match and having Punk lose. Although they no doubt will get to Punk vs. Rollins at some point.”

After WrestleMania 40, Rollins underwent knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. He returned for a match against Damian Priest at Money in the Bank last month. That’s the only time Rollins has wrestled since WrestleMania. He was the special guest referee for CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. Leading into the finish, Punk gave Rollins a GTS after an argument between the two. McIntyre then gave Punk a low blow and hit a Claymore. Rollins recovered to count the pin.

There was a confrontation angle with Rollins, Punk, and McIntyre on Raw this Monday. After the segment, Reed ambushed Rollins and destroyed him with six Tsunamis.

WWE’s next PLE is Bash in Berlin on Saturday, August 31.
