Triple H on Goldberg wrestling one more WWE match: ‘Never say never’

Triple H is keeping an open mind regarding Goldberg returning to WWE.

Goldberg was seated ringside in Atlanta at Bad Blood last night and ended up in a confrontation with World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. The segment concluded with Goldberg telling Gunther he’s “next,” leaving many to wonder if we could see the former WCW Champion back in a WWE ring.

During the post-event press conference, Triple H was asked about Goldberg wrestling another match for the company. He responded:

“Atlanta loves Bill Goldberg and that’s why he was here tonight,” Triple H said. “He was with his wife and his son. Always going to get a huge reaction here enjoying the show. You know, things get said. I can tell you when Bill came back he was not too happy with Gunther and we’ll see.”

“The further you go time catches up with all of us and so the further you go those talks get further and further away from reality. But I don’t know, I saw Bill earlier in the day and it was great. And I saw Bill later in the day and there was a different look on his face with a spark in his eye. So, I would say ‘never say never.’”

Goldberg’s last match was at Elimination Chamber 2022 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he lost a six-minute match to Roman Reigns. The 57-year-old has said on multiple occasions that he does not want that to be his last match and would like to have a retirement bout or tour to end his career.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio in June, Goldberg said he’d “love” to have another match but he first needs to take care of a torn rotator cuff.

“Oh, man, I’d love to, dude — 100 percent,” Goldberg said on the show. “But I have to get my torn rotator cuff taken care of finally.”

“I ain’t doing sh*t until I get that done,” he continued. “And that’s hopefully coming up — I’m doing stem cells here soon and then I’m going to see if surgery is needed. But yeah, man, I’d love to have one more match. You know how it is. Vince [McMahon] and I spoke about it. He gave me his word. But all that stuff happened. And, hey, man, I don’t hold grudges. Vince gave me so many opportunities, man, I’ll be forever grateful. But yeah, I would absolutely love to have that final match. I would. Am I good not having it? Yeah, I’m fine with it. But it’d be neat to have one.”
