Giulia wins Women’s United States title on WWE SmackDown
A new WWE Women’s United States Champion has been crowned as Giulia pinned Zelina Vega to win the title for the first time on WWE SmackDown from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The finish had Vega missing a moonsault. Giulia used the opportunity to strike Vega with the Arrivederci knee then finished her off with the northern lights bomb for the win.
Vega had held the title since April 25 when she defeated first-ever champion Chelsea Green on an episode of SmackDown. She had one successful title defense, pinning Green in a rematch one month later.
Giulia has seen much gold since officially signing with WWE last year. In her short time on NXT, she won the NXT Women’s Championship from Roxanne Perez. Following WrestleMania 41, the two began appearing on the main roster and started to work together as a team on Raw. However, following a loss, Giulia broke off the partnership and officially signed with the SmackDown brand. In the weeks leading up to Friday’s match, Giulia had made it clear to Vega she was coming after the title.
