The Rock: It’s time to ‘do things never done before’ in WWE

The Rock says it’s time to make history.
The 51-year-old posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday featuring footage of his return to Raw on January 1. He included a caption that teased he is about to do something never done before in WWE.
Rock wrote:
These ‘electrifying’ nights are so special and unforgettable. The connection with the people, the energy, vibe, authenticity, disruption, love, mana — the CHILLS. And now we make history, raise the bar and do things that have never been done before in @wwe. We go all out. And all in.

The Rock has previously spoken about wanting to do something history-making when he returns to WWE. Last September, he told Pat McAfee that he and Roman Reigns were “locked in” to wrestle at WrestleMania last year. Rock said what prevented the match from happening was they were unable to determine what they could do with the story that would lead to something bigger.
The Rock said:
The North Star thought was, ‘Okay, let’s not do something good, let’s not do something great, let’s do something unprecedented.’
We can have the match but the bigger thought was what can we do for the fans of this business that we love where WrestleMania isn’t the end of something, it’s actually the beginning of something bigger?”
We got really, really close but we couldn’t actually nail what that thing was. So, we decided to put our pencils down. Then we agreed, ‘Hey listen, there’s a merger coming up, eventually, that will happen, there’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia…’ I’m saying that’s a potential too, I’m open. But again, let’s figure out what that is because the fans deserve something just incredible and unprecedented, and not only that, but I also want to deliver to the locker room and the boys and the girls back there who are working their asses off. What can we do to put them in a position where they are part of something that is a new change, an era in this world of pro-wrestling?
