‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin accepts Kevin Owens’ WWE WrestleMania 38 invitation

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin is officially coming to WrestleMania 38.

On Monday’s episode of Raw, Kevin Owens called out Austin to appear on the KO Show at night one of WrestleMania 38. WWE then posted a video today with Austin accepting Owens’ challenge.

“Whether you want to call this a KO Show, a match, a fight, a brawl, whatever. I will guarantee you this,” Austin said. “In Dallas, Texas, where I started my career, at WrestleMania, ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is gonna open up one last can of whoop-ass on you, Kevin Owens. And that’s the bottom line, ’cause Stone Cold said so.”

Leading into WrestleMania, Owens has been talking trash about the state of Texas on WWE television. Owens said last night that nothing would make him happier than beating the hell out of Austin in Austin’s home state and giving him a stunner that the world would talk about for years.

Dave Meltzer reported over the weekend that, while Owens vs. Austin had been discussed as a match for WrestleMania, it was now on the books as a confrontation.

“They will have a confrontation, but it is not clear if that will be a match or not anymore,” Meltzer said. “It’s essentially up to Austin at this point. They want the match, they thought they had the match and Steve…there’s a reason he hasn’t wrestled in 19 years. I just know that as of Friday, he had not agreed to do the match even though it was on the books. Now, it’s on the books as a confrontation.”

Austin hasn’t wrestled since facing The Rock at WrestleMania XIX in 2003.
