Sonya Deville cast as police officer in ‘DNA Secrets’ film

Sonya Deville is doing some acting work while on the shelf with a torn ACL.

Deville has been cast as a police officer in the movie, “DNA Secrets,” which is currently filming in Clearwater, Florida. While on set, she spoke with 10 Tampa Bay about the similarities between acting and being a WWE performer.

Deville said:

Obviously, the hustle and bustle, the hurry up and wait, the cameras, the memorization of lines, the having to constantly be ready and on is very similar. I have to say, I do like that in filmmaking you get more than one take. When you’re on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown, it is live live and that is it.

Deville has been out of action since suffering a torn ACL in August. At the time, she was one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions along with Chelsea Green.

DNA Secrets is being produced by David Yates, who is known for his work on Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2. Yates told the Tampa Bay Times recently that the movie’s plot centers on an antiques store owner who gives her relatives DNA testing kits as a gift. When the store owner’s family members begin turning up murdered, she “edges closer to the truth only to discover that she herself is at the heart of a mystery that has put her entire family in danger.”
