Shelton Benjamin signs new multi-year deal with WWE

During an appearance on the latest episode of Lilian Garcia’s Chasing Glory podcast, Shelton Benjamin revealed that he recently signed a new contract with WWE.
“Yeah, I just re-signed another multi-year deal with [WWE],” the 44-year-old Benjamin told Garcia. “So, I’m still gonna be here for a little while.”
Prior to announcing that he’s re-signed with WWE, Benjamin also spoke about his current position on WWE television and being reluctant to come on Garcia’s podcast.
“I always like to put my best foot forward. I like to be in the mix, I like to be producing, I like to inspire people. And, lately, I haven’t been doing much as far as on-air with WWE. And, for me, it’s just frustrating,” Benjamin said.
“So, when you contacted me and wanted to do this interview, my first thought was like I don’t even know what I would talk about because right now, I’m not doing anything. I’m not doing anything that’s fulfilling to me. I’m here every week, I’m ready to go. For me, it’s like, when I watch shows like this — I mean the show’s called Chasing Glory. People are chasing something. Right now, I don’t feel like I’m even in the hunt. Not that I don’t want to be, but I’m not. That frustrates me on a very personal level.”
Though he expressed frustration with his position on TV, Benjamin agreed with Garcia when she mentioned that things can turn around for him.
Benjamin returned to WWE in 2017. He was originally supposed to return after the reintroduction of the brand split in 2016, but a shoulder injury delayed his comeback.
Benjamin was an entrant in the men’s Royal Rumble match last month and was involved in a spot with Brock Lesnar. Lesnar and Benjamin acted like they were going to team up in the match, but Lesnar turned against Benjamin and eliminated him.
