Seth Rollins update following injury at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event
Updates are available on Seth Rollins following the injury he suffered at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
During his match against LA Knight on the show, Rollins appeared to tweak his knee after landing awkwardly on a springboard move from the second rope. After a brief delay, during which Rollins spoke with Paul Heyman and the referee, Knight hit a BFT and scored the win.
Bryan Alvarez reports that the injury led to a planned segment later in the show being scrapped.
“Seth is injured, appears to be serious. The last 40 minutes of the show were changed on the fly, and there was something that was supposed to happen later that didn’t as a result of the injury,” Alvarez said of the situation. “In storyline, Seth has until next June to cash in, so conceivably even with surgery and a long-term recovery, he could return before then.”
Alvarez and Dave Meltzer also addressed Rollins’ injury on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer noted that most people are under the impression the injury is legitimate, although he has heard from one source who does not believe it is.
“I was told it was legitimate,” Alvarez said. “There are people that would be very upset if they found out it wasn’t legitimate, and I guess there are some people who are skeptical.”
Meltzer responded:
“Someone, who I one hundred percent trust, told me ‘Don’t go so strong on the idea that it’s real at all’ because they pretty much heard about it on Thursday. So, I don’t know. I mean, everybody thinks that it’s real. I don’t want to say more. Everyone’s going with the idea it’s real. It’s only one person who told me that but it was someone to warn me. So who the hell knows? And we’ll see. They were pretty detailed in the description.”
Meltzer also confirmed that he heard from people backstage who said the last 40 minutes of the show were changed on the fly, similar to what Alvarez noted earlier.
