Roman Reigns confirms reduced WWE house show schedule

In a promo on Sunday night, Roman Reigns confirmed that he’ll be working a reduced house show schedule going forward.

Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Drew McIntyre in the main event of WWE’s live event in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Sunday. After the match, Reigns closed the show with a promo addressing the fans. Reigns stated that he doesn’t know if he’ll be doing too many Sunday house shows in the future.

“From the bottom of my heart, I hope y’all had a great time,” Reigns said. “I know I had the internet talking last week or the week before that, but I honestly don’t know if I’m going to be doing too many more live events like this, on a Sunday, going forward. So this could be my last one and I want y’all to know that it was very special for me and I had an incredible time.”

Earlier this month, Reigns said at a live event in Trenton, New Jersey that he’s starting to enter “a new phase” in his career. Dave Meltzer reported that Reigns has signed a new contract with WWE that will include him working fewer dates.

Reigns was originally advertised for WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (Sunday, June 5), but he’ll no longer be working that PPV. Reigns is still set for Money in the Bank (Saturday, July 2), SummerSlam (Saturday, July 30), and Clash at the Castle (Saturday, September 3).

Reigns is advertised for WWE’s house show at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on Saturday, July 9.
