Roman Reigns confirmed for this week’s WWE SmackDown

An appearance by Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns has been confirmed for this week’s SmackDown.
WWE officially announced Reigns for Friday’s SmackDown in a social media post on Thursday.
There had been some question as to the status of Reigns for the show as he was not featured in local advertising for SmackDown in Birmingham, Alabama, plus a placeholder video promo airing on WWE programming this week was somewhat nebulous in making reference to Reigns’ road to WrestleMania 40 beginning on the show.
Friday’s SmackDown will also feature 2024 women’s Royal Rumble winner Bayley announcing whether she will challenge Rhea Ripley or IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40. Ripley is the WWE Women’s World Champion, while Bayley’s Damage CTRL stablemate SKY holds the WWE Women’s Championship.
Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes is also set for an appearance on SmackDown this week. Rhodes has not promised to announce which champion he will challenge at WrestleMania after a segment on Monday’s Raw where World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins encouraged Rhodes to challenge him at WrestleMania rather than go after Reigns.
United States Champion Logan Paul is also set to appear on SmackDown after retaining his title at Royal Rumble in a DQ win over Kevin Owens.
The lineup for the Friday, February 2 WWE SmackDown:
- Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns appears
- Women’s Royal Rumble winner Bayley chooses her WrestleMania opponent
- Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes appears
- United States Champion Logan Paul appears
