Roman Reigns to challenge for Rusev’s United States title at WWE SummerSlam

In addition to the Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass match that was announced earlier, WWE’s SummerSlam card has seen another addition with Roman Reigns officially challenging Rusev for the United States Championship.
The match was made apparent last week when Reigns confronted Rusev after the United States Champion claimed that no man could take the title away from him.
On tonight’s episode of Raw, Reigns interrupted Rusev and Lana’s wedding celebration, and the segment ended with Reigns attacking Rusev and Lana falling face-first into a wedding cake. Rusev then demanded that Raw General Manager Mick Foley do something about it, so Foley booked the match for SummerSlam.
With the help of Sheamus, Rusev later successfully defended his title against Cesaro in the main event of Raw. Reigns laid out Rusev with a spear after the match.
SummerSlam will take place on August 21st at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The updated card is:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton
- Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship
- WWE Champion Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler in a championship match
- John Cena vs. AJ Styles
- WWE Women’s Champion Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte in a championship match
- United States Champion Rusev vs. Roman Reigns in a championship match
- Intercontinental Champion The Miz vs. Apollo Crews in a championship match
- WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Xavier Woods & Kofi Kingston) vs. The Club (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows) in a championship match
- Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens
