Ric Flair says he apologized to Becky Lynch at WWE Raw 30

Ric Flair says he has apologized to Becky Lynch and made amends with WWE over issues that had lingered the last couple of years. 

Speaking on an episode of his podcast released Wednesday, Flair commented on his experience at Raw 30 and conversations he had backstage with Lynch and Triple H. 

Flair said:

I felt like I was respected, I felt like I was wanted, I felt like I was part of it again and I walked away a better man, with a better understanding of who I am as a person and what the business is about. 

It started out with me and Hunter talking for about an hour, which was a private discussion about resolving a lot of issues that had been lingering for a couple years. 

Then I apologized to Becky Lynch. I walked up to her and said, ‘May I speak with you for a minute?’ And I just said ‘I’m sorry that it ever got to where it is.’ I went over and shook Seth Rollins’ hand and I said, ‘I’m going to apologize to your wife.’

Flair would continue to express that he no longer has ill-feelings towards Lynch using “The Man” moniker. He sold WWE the trademark to the name in 2021 but had several social media exchanges with Lynch regarding it in the following years. 

Flair continued:

The Man trademark, the whole thing was decided by someone besides she and I. So, if they need to go to war over it… It’s not that as much as it was the money that was involved in it, which the company reached the better part of, anyway. And then I saw her with her child and I thought, ‘God, this will be Ashley some day.’

It’s not worth it. I’m not The Man anymore. The Man is whoever the people think is and basically we’ve turned it over to social media to decide who The Man is. Does that make sense? It could be Tom Brady, who is still playing. It could be Aaron Rodgers in football. It could be LeBron, who I still think is the man in basketball, he had 46 last night. 

I will be, in some people’s mind, The Man forever but you gotta remember I’m sitting there with Taker and Shawn, and I’m 20 years older than those guys and I’m there on Raw, lucky enough to celebrate that moment and that time with these guys that grew up on me and then introduce my daughter and call her what she is, the greatest woman’s champion in the history of WWE.

Flair was released from WWE on August 3, 2021. He then appeared at the NWA 73 anniversary show later that month. The following year, Flair wrestled what was billed as Ric Flair’s Last Match on July 31, 2022 in Nashville. He teamed with his son-in-law, Andrade El Idolo, and defeated Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.
