One year after losing at WrestleMania 36, Rhea Ripley got WrestleMania redemption tonight.

Ripley defeated Asuka at WrestleMania 37 night two to win the Raw Women’s Championship. The finish of the match was Ripley pinning Asuka after hitting Riptide.

This was the second WrestleMania match the 24-year-old Ripley has had during her career. She lost the NXT Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36 last year.

Ripley debuted as a member of the Raw roster by confronting Asuka three weeks ago and challenging her to a title match at WrestleMania. After having her final match for NXT, Ripley was an entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match this January. Ripley made it to the final two of the women’s Royal Rumble before losing to Bianca Blair.

Rock musician Ash Costello performed Ripley’s theme music “Brutality” as Ripley made her entrance for tonight’s match.

Prior to losing the Raw Women’s Championship to Ripley tonight, Asuka had been champion since winning the title from Sasha Banks at SummerSlam last August.
