Rey Mysterio: Dominik is ‘most definitely’ a future WWE World Champion

Rey Mysterio has no doubt that his son Dominik will be a WWE World Champion one day.

While appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Rey said he “most definitely” sees Dominik Mysterio being a World Champion in the future. Rey believes that — only four years since debuting — Dominik has already gotten really good at pro wrestling.

“Oh, definitely. Most definitely,” Rey said about Dominik becoming a World Champion. “Dom, he’s getting really good at what he’s doing, and he’s understanding the craft. The fact that he’s where he’s at with such little time. Like, I wish I could be there, or I could have been there, with four years of being in the business. I didn’t know sh*t at four years.”

Rey thinks being able to share the ring with wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, and John Cena has helped Dominik learn so fast. Dominik made his in-ring debut by facing Rollins at SummerSlam 2020.

“Not only me, I mean that, yes, I am his father, but the fact that he’s been able to be in there with the best: Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns, John Cena,” Rey said. “All these moments are moments that give you the ability to learn. So I think he’s taken very well advantage of those moments.”

On Raw next Monday, Rey and Dominik will face each other in a televised singles match for just the second time ever. Rey won their previous meeting at WrestleMania 39.

In storyline, Liv Morgan has recently been attempting to seduce Dominik away from Rhea Ripley. She helped Dominik get this match against Rey next week and also got Judgment Day’s Finn Balor & JD McDonagh a World Tag Team title shot on Raw last night. They defeated The Miz & R-Truth to win the belts.
