WWE SmackDown live results: Styles-Nakamura contract signing

The build to AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura at Money in the Bank continues with a contract signing on tonight’s SmackDown from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Now less than two weeks out from the pay-per-view, Paige will host the contract signing for the WWE Championship match. The match will have a last man standing stipulation, which was previously announced by Nakamura.

Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch will take place tonight. It was made last Tuesday after both declared that they’ll win the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match. In a mixed tag, Naomi & Jimmy Uso will team against Lana & Aiden English.

Carmella has also promised to unmask Asuka by revealing a “never-before-told truth” about her. They’ll meet at Money in the Bank on June 17th with Carmella’s SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line.

Show Recap–

-Carmella came down to the ring to start the show. She demanded the audience shower her with praise for being the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Tonight is about revealing the real Asuka. She showed a video package on Asuka’s career in WWE.

Carmella promised to remove the mask and reveal the horrible truth about Asuka. She showed footage of Charlotte defeating Asuka at WreslteMania and her loss to Peyton Royce. Carmella believes that the loss to Charlotte caused Asuka to lose her confidence. She asked the audience to raise their hand if they’re ready for Asuka.

Asuka came down to the ring but before she could talk Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville interrupted her. Both Rose and Deville want a match tonight with Asuka. Carmella said that the undefeated Asuka would take on both. This brought out GM Paige and she reminded everyone that she makes the matches. Paige gives Asuka the choice of her opponent and Asuka chose both.

Asuka defeated Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville

Carmella joined the commentary team for the match. Asuka was firmly in control until Rose caused a minor distraction and Deville took over. Asuka made a fiery comeback but Carmella distracted Asuka and Deville regained control. Carmella moonwalked on the announce table.

Asuka made another comeback and scored a close near fall. Deville and Asuka blocked each other’s kick and then both connected with a kick to the head. Deville hit a spear for a near fall. Asuka fought back and locked on the Asuka lock for the win.

After the match, Rose tried to jump Asuka but she easily took her out. Carmella jumped Asuka from behind and beat her down.

-Backstage, The New Day met with The Miz and asked for his help to decide which member will compete in the Money in the Back ladder match. They asked Miz to pick a name out of a hat. They switched hats and tricked Miz to put his hand in pancake batter. Miz was furious. 

Karl Anderson (w/Luke Gallows) defeated Harper (w/ Rowan)  

Harper completely dominated the match and beat Anderson all over the ring. Harper attempted a superkick but Anderson rolled him up for the win.

-Backstage, Jimmy Uso and Naomi promised to defeated Aiden English and Lana in the upcoming match.

Naomi & Jimmy Uso defeated Lana & Aiden English

Both Naomi and Uso hit an enziguri on Lana and English. Naomi followed up with a dive to the floor taking out English and Lana. Lana gained the advantage and cut Naomi off from her corner.

Uso got the tag and had the match won but Lana broke up the pin. She slapped Uso in the face. Uso launched Naomi in the air and she landed on Lana. Finish came when Naomi hit a cross body block on English and Uso hit a superkick for the win.

AJ Styles/Shinsuke Nakamura Money in the Bank Contract Signing

The contract signing took place backstage and not in the ring. Paige oversaw the contract signing. Styles said he’s tired of Nakamura playing games, the low blows and Nakamura pretending not to speak English. Styles signed the contract but Nakamura claimed his pen had no ink.

He borrowed Styles’s pen but claimed it was broken and threw it at Styles. Styles lost his cool and slapped Nakamura across the face. Styles left and Nakamura signed the contract. This was different than most contract signings and was a good segment.

Becky Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair

They traded holds and went back and forth. They stopped to have imaginary teatime. They both went for a kick and caught it. They held each other’s leg and agreed to put the other’s leg down. They hit the ropes and collided in the middle of the ring.

Flair hit a back breaker for a near fall. Lynch fought out of a figure four-leg lock attempt and hit a leg drop off the top for a two count. Flair hit a spear and followed up with plancha to the floor.

Flair went for a moonsault but Lynch got the knees up. Flair attempted the figure-four again but Lynch countered into the Dis-arm-her for the submission win.

-Renee Young interviewed Big Cass on the stage. Cass pointed out that Daniel Bryan is just a bit taller than Young. Cass told a little story about being at WrestleMania 30 and walking behind Bryan. He said Bryan’s win at WrestleMania 30 was fluke and his win against Cass was a fluke too. Cass showed footage from last week of Cass beating down Bryan. He promised to defeat and embarrass Bryan at Money In The Bank.

-Zelina Vega confronted Sin Cara in the back. She noted that Andrade “Cien” Almas is better off with her guidance than his. Vega informed Cara that he has a match with Almas next week. Almas jumped Cara from behind and beat him down.

The New Day defeated Rusev, The Miz & Samoa Joe

The New Day was firmly in control early in the match. Woods went after Miz, which gave Joe the chance to take over. The heels isolated Woods and cut him off from his corner.

Kingston got the hot tag and ran wild. He connected with a high cross body for a very close near fall. Joe distracted Kingston and Miz hit a DDT for a another near fall. Woods took out Rusev on the floor with a huge dive. Kingston hit a cool looking move on Joe to the floor as well.

The heels regained control and isolated Big E. Miz tried to throw the platter of pancakes at Big E but he missed at hit Joe and Rusev. Rusev nailed Miz with a kick and Joe hit a senton. They walked out on Miz and New Day hit the Big Ending for the win.

Next Week: Paige’s hosts a Women’s Summit featuring the Money In The Bank participants Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Naomi and Lana. Also, Andrade “Cien” Almas takes on Sin Cara.
