WWE SmackDown live results: New Day vs. Orton & The Revival

SmackDown takes place from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia tonight and features the fallout from Clash of Champions.

The New Day will take on Randy Orton and new SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Revival in a six-man tag match. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Orton on Sunday night to retain his title, but The Revival defeated Xavier Woods and Big E for the tag titles.

Erick Rowan sits down for an exclusive interview tonight. He defeated Roman Reigns at Clash of Champions with help from the returning Luke Harper. WWE is hyping that Rowan promises to answer questions regarding the attacks on Reigns.

Shane McMahon will also address Kevin Owens’ “firing.” McMahon forced Owens to referee his King of the Ring semifinal match against Chad Gable last week. McMahon blamed Owens for losing and fired him after the match.

Baron Corbin defeated Gable in the King of the Ring finals last night on Raw. King Corbin’s coronation takes place tonight.

They announced Daniel Bryan appears later to address Erick Rowan giving him the Iron Claw through the announce table a few weeks back.

They also announced Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks for later tonight.

The New Day defeated Randy Orton & The Revival

They started with the six-man tag match and not a lengthy promo, which was a nice change.

Big E caught Dash Wilder with a belly-to-belly suplex to start the match. He followed up with the splash on the apron. Wilder attacked Woods’ injured knee to take over briefly. Kofi Kingston got the tag and caught Orton with a dropkick. The New Day fired back and used triple team moves to take back over.

Back from the break, the heels regained control and isolated Woods in their corner. They worked over Woods injured knee. Woods fought back and went for a DDT, but Wilder dumped him on the floor. Orton then gave Woods a back suplex on the announce table.

During the break, Scott Dawson attempted a superplex, but Woods pushed him off and hit a missile dropkick. Kingston got the hot tag and ran wild on the heels. He hit the SOS on Orton, but Dawson broke up the pin.

On the floor, Big E ran over Dawson with a clothesline. Wilder rocked Big E with a tornado DDT off the apron. Kingston then caught Wilder with a dropkick. He attempted a dive, but Orton hit the draping DDT.

Orton and Revival set up for the RKO Machine, but Big E pulled Orton out of the ring. Woods then hit an elbow off the top on Wilder. The finish came when Kingston hit the Trouble In Paradise on Dawson for the win.

The New Day celebrated the win after the match.

Suddenly, Brock Lesnar’s music hit and he made his way down to the ring with Paul Heyman. Kingston then sent Big E and Woods away. Kingston stood alone in the ring as Lesnar and Heyman entered.

Heyman noted Lesnar stands in the way of the longevity of Kingston’s title reign. Heyman said his client authorized him to inform Kingston it’s a bad day for the New Day.

Heyman then challenged Kingston to defend the WWE Championship against Lesnar on Friday, October 4th for SmackDown’s debut on FOX. Kingston promised to be a fighting champion and accepted the challenge. Lesnar attacked Kingston and gave him the F-5. Kingston defending against Lesnar on Friday Night SmackDown’s FOX debut is official. 

In the back, Kayla Braxton interviewed Sasha Banks and Bayley. Banks promised to defeat Becky Lynch in Hell in a Cell.

Erick Rowan sat down for a sit-down interview with Michael Cole. Cole asked about Luke Harper, but Rowan doesn’t want to answer questions about him. Cole pointed out that Rowan almost killed Roman Reigns, but Rowan told Cole to lower his voice.

Rowan pointed out that everyone thinks he’s just a goon in the background, but he’s not a follower. Cole asked about Rowan betraying Daniel Bryan. Rowan said Bryan’s not his intellectual equal. He demanded nobody ever disrespect him again.

Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura (w/Sami Zayn) vs. Ali

The match didn’t take place. Zayn came out wearing a neck brace and demanded respect from the audience. Zayn got in Ali’s face and said he’d never be a champion. Ali attacked the heels, but they outnumbered him. Zayn grabbed Ali’s leg, and Nakamura hit the Kinshasa.

Kevin Owens walked down through the audience and took a seat in the crowd. Corey Graves noted Owens doesn’t work here and the cameraman should take the camera off of him.

In the back, Shane McMahon’s served papers. He walked out to address Owens in the crowd.

Shane McMahon made his way down to the ring with security. He demanded security let Owens enter the ring because he has something say.

McMahon sent the guards away and revealed that he just received the largest wrongful termination lawsuit ever. McMahon noted if Owens wins he gets $25 million. He said the case is weak, but Owens disagreed.

Owens pointed out that McMahon is trying to make his life a living hell. He noted he got fined for attacking McMahon’s crooked referee Elias. Last week, McMahon attacked Owens when he was the referee. McMahon fired him for being insubordinate, which strengths his case.

Owens pointed out that he wants to hurt McMahon. He knows it hurts McMahon the most in his wallet and pride. Owens pointed out it’s not just about money. There’s a clause that notes McMahon gets fired if Owens wins the lawsuit.

In the back, Charlotte Flair was getting ready for her upcoming match when her father Ric Flair showed up.

An AOP promo aired disusing the reason’s they haven’t been around. All the tag teams are soft, and they’re the future of the tag team division.  

Charlotte Flair defeated Sasha Banks (w/Bayley) By DQ

Atlanta recording artist Offset did the ring introduction for Flair.

Flair had the early advantage and used a suplex. Bayley tried to take the turnbuckle pad off, but Flair caught her. Bayley distracted Flair and Banks shoved her into the ring post to gain control.

Back from the break, Banks was firmly in control, but Flair fought back with a big boot. She rocked Banks with several hard chops and then hit a fallaway slam. Banks fought back and attempted a hurricanrana. Flair countered with a Boston crab, but Banks fought out.

Flair then hit a big boot sending Banks off the apron. Flair followed up with a huge moonsault to the floor wiping out Bayley and Banks. Banks rolled up Flair, but she countered into the figure eight. Bayley jumped in the ring for the disqualification.

Carmella ran out for the save and super kicked Banks. The announcers pointed out that Carmella and Bayley are friends. Bayley tried to talk to Carmella, but Flair rocked Bayley with a big boot.

Baron Corbin’s coronation took place next. He put on the cape and crown and noted he’s the king the fans need. He’s got everything it takes to be king. He’s strong and dominant but also gentle and kind. If he doesn’t get his respect, he’ll rule with an iron fist.

Corbin then brought out the man he beat last night Chad Gable. Corbin made a bunch of short jokes aimed at Gable. Gable couldn’t take the jokes and attacked Corbin. They fell on the throne, and it broke. Gable tore up the cape, and the scepter went flying into the crowd.

Gable then stomped on the crown and destroyed it.

The announcers pushed NXT’s debut on USA Network tomorrow night.

Heavy Machinery defeated The B-Team

Tom Philips and Byron Saxton made a big deal out of Otis’s outfit change. He’s no longer wearing a singlet and switched to more traditional tights.

The heels isolated Tucker in their corner and worked him over. Otis got the hot tag and ran wild on the heels.

He hit a splash in the corner on Bo Dallas and hit the Caterpillar. Heavy Machinery then hit the Compacter for the win.

Daniel Bryan made his way down to the ring. The fans broke into a “Daniel Bryan” chant. He pointed out that the fans chanting his name are the same ones that accused him of attacking Roman Reigns.

He said good or bad he’s never lied to the fans. The fans gave him a mixed reaction. He stands in the ring an exonerated man. Bryan’s not out there to talk about that. Instead, he wants to talk about Rowan.

He said he saw something special in Rowan. He didn’t treat him as his equal but saw him as his equal. He didn’t just treat him as his equal but also as his friend. Rowan interrupted and made his way to the ring.

Rowan pointed out that Bryan never let him talk and was too busy trying to make him into his puppet. Nobody disrespects Rowan. Bryan told him to do something about it because there’s nothing worse than lying to him and destroying their friendship.

Luke Harper attacked Bryan from behind Rowan hit the Iron Claw on Bryan.

Roman Reigns music hit, and he made his way down to the ring. Reigns speared Rowan, but Harper gained the advantage on Reigns. Rowan power bombed Reigns against the ring post.

The heels lifted the ringside pads and attacked security. Rowan kicked down a part of the barricade and hit Reigns with it. Rowan and Harper then slammed Bryan through the announce table.
