WWE SmackDown live results: Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair


SmackDown takes place from Indianapolis, Indiana tonight and features the brand’s fallout from Super Show-Down.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch defends against Charlotte Flair in a Super Show-Down rematch. In Australia, Lynch held on to her title by intentionally getting disqualified. Tonight’s rematch has an added stipulation: Lynch can lose the title by DQ.
Two World Cup qualifying matches for Crown Jewel are also set for tonight. The Big Show returns to go one-on-one with Randy Orton. In the other qualifying match, Jeff Hardy takes on Samoa Joe.
Daniel Bryan defeated The Miz in a short match at Super Show-Down to earn a shot at the WWE Championship, and AJ Styles retained his title against Samoa Joe. This sets up a dream match at Crown Jewel between Styles and Bryan for the title. Tonight, both Styles and Bryan will be guests on Miz TV.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair Ended in a Double Count Out
Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair were already in the ring to start SmackDown. Lynch can lose the title if she’s disqualified.
The fans were firmly behind Lynch. There were light dueling chants. They went back and forth early. Lynch had the brief advantage and scored a near fall. Flair fought back and rolled up Lynch for a two count. Lynch attempted the Dis-arm-her but Flair countered into a dragon screw whip. Lynch slowed the pace down and worked over the arm.
Lynch applied a hammerlock and did a cool looking bridge. Flair fought back and sent Lynch to the floor. Flair followed up with a plancha. Lynch hit the exploder for a near fall. Flair fought back with vicious chops. Lynch climbed to the top turnbuckle but Flair cut her off. Lynch applied an armbar but Flair reversed into a one-arm powerbomb for a near fall.
Flair attempted the figure four but Lynch sent her head first into the turnbuckle. Lynch grabbed the belt and tried to walk away. Corey Graves explained the title could change hands on DQ but not count out. Flair chased after Lynch and threw her back in. Lynch tried to hit Flair with the belt behind the referee’s back but got caught. He almost disqualified her but Flair rolled up Lynch for a near fall.
Flair hit Natural Selection but Lynch rolled to the floor. They fought on the floor and both were counted out.
Flair and Lynch continued to fight after the match. They fought up the ramp way towards the entrance. Flair then speared Lynch threw the LED wall at the entrance. Flair’s arm was bleeding from delivering the spear. This was a good match but the fans hated the count out finish. However, the fans loved the post match angle.
Jeff Hardy defeated Samoa Joe in World Cup Qualifier via referee stoppage
Joe limped to the ring selling his injured knee. AJ Styles injured the leg at Super Show-Down. Joe jumped Hardy to start the match. Hardy fought back and targeted the injured leg. Joe slowed the pace down and worked over Hardy. Joe hit a senton for a near fall. Hardy attacked the leg to regain control. Joe pulled Hardy to the floor and sent him into the ring steps. Joe missed a charge and smashed his injured leg into the steps.
Hardy continued to attack the injured leg. Joe fought back and nailed Hardy. Joe tried to stand up but collapsed. The referee ruled that Joe couldn’t continue and ended the match. Hardy qualifies for the World Cup at Crown Jewel.
Backstage, GM Paige discussed the Flair-Lynch match from earlier. Paige announced Flair vs. Lynch is the first ever Last Woman Standing Match for Evolution.
The Miz came out for Miz TV. He noted that Paige warned him that he must be professional with his two guests. Miz first introduced WWE Champion AJ Styles. He asked about Styles’ family. Styles didn’t like the question but Miz admitted he felt for Styles. He noted his next challenger is a different kind of wrestler. He said if Bryan broke into his house he’d tend to his garden.
Miz introduced Daniel Bryan. Styles and Bryan shook hands. Miz was disgusted. Bryan wondered if Miz wanted to talk about their match from Super Show-Down. Bryan pointed out it wouldn’t take very long to discuss.
Miz tried to create problems between them. Bryan is glad that Styles thinks he’s better. Bryan believes Styles earned the right to think he’s better than everyone. Bryan said he knows he can beat Styles. Styles noted that since Bryan returned he hasn’t faced anyone phenomenal and pointed at Miz. Bryan called Miz the two-minute man.
Bryan said he didn’t come back to reunite Team Hell No or fight the Miz. He came back to win the WWE Championship. Styles is the only thing standing in the way of his dream. Styles said he’s not moving. They went face-to-face. Miz was entertained. Styles and Bryan mocked Miz. They talked about how nice it felt to punch him in the face.
Miz became upset and pointed out that his shoulder was up at Super Show-Down. He noted that he beat Bryan over and over. He demanded a title shot but Paige wouldn’t give it to him. Miz wants to face the winner of Styles vs. Bryan. The fans actually popped when Miz gave his passionate speech.
WWE Champion AJ Styles defeated Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match
Miz and Bryan joined the commentators. Miz pointed out that Benjamin defeated Bryan last week.
Benjamin had the early advantage. He missed a kick and Styles connected with the Pele kick. Styles set up for the Phenomenal forearm but Benjamin rocked him with a knee. Styles regained control after hitting the electric chair. Styles applied the Calf Crusher but Benjamin made the ropes. Finish came when Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
Aiden English came out to show the rest of the One Night In Milwaukee video. Tonight he showed the director’s cut. In the video, English is rehearsing without a shirt. Lana entered his hotel room. She said, “I want you…to know how much you mean to Rusev.” Lana praised English and everything he did for Rusev. He paused the video again and called out Rusev.
English doesn’t want to show the video because everyone knows what happens next. English promised to destroy the tape if Rusev would kick Lana out and reunite Rusev Day. He slowly walked towards the ring when Lana walked out.
Rusev asked English to play the whole video but English said it’s a family show. He also noted that no man should see that. Lana figured out English’s password, “I Heart Rusev”. Lana played the rest of the video. English tried to make a move on Lana but got rejected. English admitted he got caught and told Lana the offers still on the table. Rusev chased after English but he got away.
Randy Orton defeated The Big Show in a World Cup Qualifier
Orton nailed Show with a DDT for a two count. Orton applied a chin lock but Show countered with a back suplex. Orton nailed Show with a standing dropkick. He hit a draping DDT using the top rope for a near fall. Orton attempted the punt but Show hit a spear.
Orton tried to leave but Show pulled him back in. Show hit the choke slam for a close near fall. Show set up for the Knock Out punch but Orton rolled out of the ring. Show tired to bring him back in but Orton poked him in the eyes. Orton then hit the RKO for the win. Orton qualifies for the World Cup.
Next Week: It’s SmackDown 1000. It features the return of The Undertaker to SmackDown. Also, Evolution (HHH, Ric Flair, Batista and Randy Orton) reunites and will make an appearance. Plus, Rey Mysterio Jr. returns and takes on Shinsuke Nakamura in a World Cup Qualifier.
