– SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) defeated Cesaro & Sheamus to retain their titles
New Day did lots of comedy spots, with the crowd eating it up. Kingston pinned Sheamus after New Day hit Midnight Hour. Good match.
– Rusev & Lana defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas & Zelina Vega
Rusev was mega over and got tons of “Rusev Day” chants. The finish was Rusev and Lana both using the Accolade and submitting their opponents.
– Shelton Benjamin defeated Tye Dillinger
This turned into a really fun match towards the end. There were lots of “10” chants. Benjamin won after hitting Paydirt.
– SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defeated Carmella by DQ
They had a short match that ended when Becky Lynch ran in and broke up the submission as Charlotte had the Figure Eight locked in.
Lynch and Carmella beat down Charlotte after the match until Asuka made the save. Charlotte then challenged Lynch and Carmella to a tag match.
– SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair & Asuka defeated Carmella & Becky Lynch
Lynch was very popular and received plenty of “Becky” chants, although Charlotte was never booed. Charlotte submitted Carmella with the Figure Eight for the win.
– Karl Anderson (w/ Luke Gallows) defeated Harper
Pretty basic match. Gallows distracted Harper, then Anderson rolled him up for the pin.
– United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Jeff Hardy and The Miz in a triple threat match to retain his title
Hardy got probably the biggest pop of the show. Miz did a total Rick Rude routine before the match, complete with disrobing and calling the fans “sweat hogs.” Hardy attempted to throw his shirt into the audience, only for it to get caught up on the scoreboard.
This was a typical WWE triple threat with two guys working while one was on the floor most of the way. Hardy looked like he was in a great deal of pain. The finish was Miz reversing a Twist of Fate into a Skull Crushing Finale on Hardy, only to have Nakamura catch Miz with the Kinshasa to knock him out of the ring. Nakamura then pinned Hardy to retain the title.
They played Hardy’s music afterwards and he posed with fans.
– WWE Champion AJ Styles defeated Samoa Joe to retain his title
Really good match. Styles got a great pop coming out. The match was super heated with Joe beating Styles down before the bell. There were lots of cool reversals with both guys hitting their main stuff. Styles retained after hitting Joe with the Phenomenal Forearm.
Overall, this was a really fun show. The crowd was hot for almost everything.
