WWE Raw live results: Crown Jewel fallout, Survivor Series build

Date: November 5, 2018
Location: Manchester Arena in Manchester, England

The Big Takeaway —

The heels dominated Raw. Drew McIntyre made Kurt Angle tap-out to the ankle lock, AOP beat Seth Rollins to win the tag titles, Dean Ambrose attacked Rollins afterwards, Bobby Lashley beat Finn Balor, and Nia Jax turned heel by attacking Ember Moon. Oh, and Stephanie McMahon and Brock Lesnar return next week.

Show Recap —

The show started with a shot of the Raw roster standing on the stage and security surrounding the ring, followed by the entrance of Baron Corbin and a recap of Brock Lesnar defeating Braun Strowman to win the Universal title.

Corbin talked about Survivor Series and a mention of Lesnar was booed. He plugged the other matches, included men’s and women’s five-on-five elimination matches. He also said Stephanie McMahon would address Shane McMahon stealing the World Cup win from Raw’s Dolph Ziggler next week.

Corbin said he was the captain of Raw’s team, but wasn’t allowed to wrestle because of his duties. He named Ziggler, Drew McIntyre and Strowman to the team. Corbin knew Strowman wouldn’t be happy with him, but thought Strowman should treat Crown Jewel as a teaching moment.

He went on to name Alexa Bliss the captain of the women’s team and she came out. Like Corbin, Bliss won’t be competing but will pick the team members. Bliss wanted to see who deserved it most, so she booked the Riott Squad against Natalya, Bayley and Sasha Banks (who were all standing a few feet away from each other on the stage).

Bliss was about to announce the match to start right now, but she was interrupted by Kurt Angle who got a big reaction. Angle said competing in the World Cup lit a fire under him, he led team Raw to victory last year, and wants to do it again.

Corbin suggested Angle take a permanent vacation, but Angle suggested they have a match tonight, and if he won, he would be team captain. The crowd chanted Yes. Corbin didn’t respond, so Angle called him an embarrassment. Corbin accepted. Angle threatened to break his ankles.

Angle left and they played his music. Corbin cut his music, but the crowd kept chanting “you suck” at Corbin, which was funny. Bliss wanted to announce a match again, but was interrupted by Strowman who killed the security guards and chased after Corbin. The male heels tried to stop him but that didn’t last long (the entire men’s roster ended up in a brawl).

This was a long, dull segment with Corbin doing most of the talking. It picked up when Angle came out.

Backstage, Natalya told Charly Caruso that she brought her dad’s sunglasses to wear to the ring tonight and dedicated the match to him.

6-woman tag match: Natalya, Sasha Banks & Bayley NC The Riott Squad

Natalya quickly applied a Sharpshooter on Ruby Riott but it was broken up by Sarah Logan. After a break, Banks ran wild and applied a crossface to Liv Morgan, but that was broken up by Riott. Bayley came in and hit a suicide dive to both Logan and Morgan, then Riott took her out with an STO.

After another break and more heat on Bayley, she finally made a hot tag to Natalya who hit Logan with clotheslines, a German suplex, and facebuster, but Riott broke up the cover. After everyone traded moves, Natalya put Logan in the Sharpshooter but noticed Riott holding Jim Neidhart’s sunglasses. Natalya let go of the hold, then Riott destroyed the glasses.

The crowd lightly booed Riott as Natalya began to cry. The Riott Squad backed away up the ramp as Banks and Bayley consoled Natalya. The match just sorta ended with no bell or decision. The crowd actually counted out the Riott Squad themselves. (The match was just over 17 minutes.)

Backstage, Strowman hunted for Corbin but couldn’t find him.

They aired a recap of Triple H and Shawn Michaels beating Undertaker and Kane. Michael Cole said Triple H may need surgery tomorrow for the pec injury. (Triple H on Twitter confirmed this not long before Raw went on the air.)

A long tag match that ended with no finish because somebody was crying was followed by…

Apollo Crews defeated Jinder Mahal (w/Sunil Singh) (2:22)

Crews cut a pre-taped promo saying it was time to start stacking up victories. Crews won after a press slam and standing moonsault. Cole called this a huge victory.

Seth Rollins came out to a big ovation wearing the IC title and both tag titles for the top-of-the-hour segment. Aside from the three belts, he also wanted to come out with the World Cup trophy but came up short at Crown Jewel.

Rollins was also surprised to see Corbin help Lesnar win back the Universal title and called it a slap in the face to Roman Reigns, who fought so hard to take the title back from Lesnar. Rollins was willing to say that to Lesnar’s face, but of course, he’s not here tonight.

He thought about calling out Dean Ambrose but knew he wouldn’t show and didn’t want to waste everyone’s time. Rollins admitted he probably couldn’t defend two championships at one time. He was interrupted by Corbin on the big screen, who thought Rollins was capable of defending them. He put Rollins and his partner in a title match against AOP.

AOP (w/Drake Maverick) defeated Seth Rollins to win the Tag Team Championship (9:47)

After a break, AOP worked over Rollins until he fought back and hit Rezar with a suicide dive, then did a dive on both men. Rollins gave Rezar a slingblade, then gave Akam a blockbuster for two.

Maverick distracted the referee as Rollins went for the curb stomp. AOP double-teamed him, but he still fought back and fended them off. Rollins then gave Rezar a big frog splash for a nearfall. Rezar cut him off with a powerbomb, then AOP gave him a combo powerbomb/neckbreaker for the pinfall win. AOP are the tag champs. Maverick was very happy.

Dean Ambrose sauntered to the ring through the crowd as the crowd booed and chanted “you sold out.” Ambrose said, “you want to know why I did what I did?” then shook his head as Rollins asked, “why.” Ambrose gave him a Dirty Deeds and walked off.

Cole asked Renee Young to shine some light on the situation. Young said there was no reasoning with him and she had no more information to provide. As the announcers spoke, the crowd applauded Rollins as he got to his feet.

Caruso asked Corbin about running away from Strowman while security guards barricaded the storage room he was in. Corbin said he would be willing to face Strowman in a match, but that’s not what Strowman wanted.

Caruso asked why he was barricading the storage room if he wasn’t running. Corbin said she just exposed his location, then Strowman suddenly showed up. Corbin ran away as security slowed down Strowman, who dragged one of the guards by the foot, which was funny.

Ziggler came to the ring for a promo. Ziggler said Shane was not the best in the world–he was. Ziggler said what happened in the tournament was typical, he worked his ass off, then the conspiracy kicks in. Ziggler had a lot of excuses, like McIntyre being barred from ringside and a Smackdown referee being involved.

He was interrupted by Elias and the crowd sang “walk with Elias” to the tune of Seven Nation Army. He said he spoke with members of Oasis who said they would reunite if he performed tonight. Ziggler interrupted, so Elias called him a loser. Elias performed until he was interrupted again by Ziggler who challenged him to a match. Elias accepted.

The Revival cut a selfie promo on Lucha House Party and said they would send them back to 205 Live.

Elias defeated Dolph Ziggler (14:20)

Ziggler hit a back elbow which caused Cole to shriek before calling it an uppercut. Elias missed a diving elbow and they went to commercial. After a break, Ziggler worked over Elias for a while until he came back with a high knee. Elias followed with a sit-out powerbomb for two.

Ziggler hit a Zig-Zag but Elias got his foot on the rope. Elias followed that with Drift Away for the win. The match was dull, but the crowd sang and danced during a lot of it and they popped big for Elias winning.

Ronda Rousey promo

Ronda Rousey came out to a big reaction. She thought it was adorable that Lynch thought she would rip her arm off. Rousey wasn’t surprised people loved her and the crowd chanted “Becky.” Rousey put over Lynch’s performance at Evolution and she had her respect. However, she warned Lynch not to mistake her respect for weakness.

Rousey fired up, saying that while Lynch’s alarm was waking her up for school, Rousey’s mother would wake her out of a dead sleep trying to break her arm. While Lynch was at clown college, Rousey was training for the Olympics, and while Lynch was “a stewardess serving snacks,” Rousey was dominating MMA.

Rousey called herself a natural born killer who woke up every morning wanting to be the greatest athlete of all time. She wanted Lynch to bring all her rage because she wanted a challenge. Rousey called herself the baddest bitch on the planet.

Rousey was about to leave, but Nia Jax came out. Jax said Rousey wasn’t just fighting for herself, she was fighting for Raw. Jax warned Rousey that she would be waiting for her once she was done with Lynch. They smiled and laughed at each other until Ember Moon came out.

Nia Jax defeated Ember Moon (4:56)

Jax was in control until Moon made a comeback. She had a brief moment to shine but Jax cut her off with a Samoan drop for the win.

Tamina came out to face off with Jax. She picked up Moon and gave her Samoan drop as Jax looked on. Jax directed Tamina to turn her over, so Tamina put her in a Boston crab as Jax dropped elbows on Moon. Tamina and Jax embraced as the crowd booed. So Jax is a heel again.

Backstage, Finn Balor told Kayla Braxton that Bobby Lashley was the most powerful and explosive man he’s been in the ring with, and it didn’t feel good when that “little runt” Lio Rush slapped him in the face. He said it would feel good walking out in Manchester, a crowd normally divided by red and blue, because they wouldn’t be divided tonight. They were Balor Club, and Balor Club was for everyone.

Caruso caught up to Corbin again as he was about to get in the back of an SUV. Corbin told her to tell Angle that he has an emergency appointment and Angle would be facing McIntyre instead. Strowman showed up, so Corbin jumped in the car. Strowman chased after the car for a moment before it drove away. The SUV didn’t take off fast enough, so Strowman had to slow down otherwise he would’ve actually caught it. This made Strowman look rather silly.

Bobby Lashley (w/Lio Rush) defeated Finn Balor (6:26)

There was an awful pre-match promo, where Rush had Lashley show off a new pose for the crowd, which was basically Lashley bending over to “moon” the crowd. Rush claimed he was just showing off his glutes. The crowd chanted “boring” at Rush until Balor’s music hit, to which Cole responded, “thank god for Balor Club.”

Balor wore his black and rainbow coloured gear. Balor was about to attempt a dive but was tripped by Rush, allowing Lashley to take over. Balor came back with chops and slingblade but Lashley cut him off with a forearm. Lashley followed with a delayed vertical suplex but Balor kicked out. Balor slipped out of a Dominator and applied a schoolboy for two.

Balor hit an enziguri and went to the top, but then had to chase Rush off the apron. Balor sent Lashley to the outside then gave Rush a basement dropkick. He was about to kill Rush with a running dropkick into the barricade but Lashley intercepted him, tossed him into the barricade and hit his Dominator variation in the ring (which Balor kicked out of last week) for the win.

McIntyre came out immediately afterwards. He got in Lashley’s face, but Lashley backed down and left. McIntyre helped Balor to his feet. Balor was skeptical at first before accepting his help. Of course, McIntyre pushed him off and gave him a Claymore kick. (It was just the previous match were Jax attacked Moon instead of helping her.)

Next week, Stephanie returns to address Shane, Bliss announces the Raw women’s team, and Lesnar returns.

Drew McIntyre defeated Kurt Angle (14:35)

Angle attacked McIntyre before the match. The referee separated them to start the match. After the bell rang, Angle was all over McIntyre until McIntyre cut him off with a headbutt. McIntyre was in full control until Angle hit an Angle Slam out of nowhere, but McIntyre rolled to the outside and they went to commercial.

During the break, McIntyre regained control after shoving Angle into the steel steps. McIntyre followed later with a vertical suplex and belly-to-belly suplex. Angle came back with a jawbreaker, followed by the triple German suplexes. McIntyre slipped out of an Angle Slam and nailed a Claymore kick.

Instead of going for a cover, McIntyre stood over him and mocked him. The crowd chanted “let’s go Angle” as he slowly got to his knees. McIntyre offered himself up, but when Angle tried to take him down, McIntyre wrestled him back down.

They did that spot a second time, then McIntyre grabbed Angle by the face and called him an embarrassment to himself and his family. Angle fired up, slipped around and applied the ankle lock but McIntyre managed to kick him off. McIntyre then gave him a big Angle Slam.

McIntyre then put him in the ankle lock, grapevined the leg, and Angle tapped out.

The announcers wondered if this was the end for Kurt Angle and Corey Graves called it humiliating.
