Billie Kay defeated Daria Berenato
We started things off in the ring with Billie Kay going one-on-one with Daria Berenato, formerly of Tough Enough. Kay and Peyton Royce had previously asked Berenato to be their partner in a six-woman tag, but then walked out on her during the match.
The story of this match was that Kay did not stand a chance in a singles bout with Berenato. Berenato beat her inside and outside the ring and all over the ringside area. However, Royce rammed Berenato into the ring apron and Kay won with the running boot to the face.
After the match, both Kay and Royce issued a challenge to Asuka.

The Authors of Pain defeated John Oregon & Anthony Owens via ref stoppage
Akam and Rezar completely destroyed Owens. Oregon, who was standing on the apron, tried leaving, but was intimidated back into the ring and destroyed. The AoP did the move where they pick both men up in a powerbomb and slam them together. After throwing them on top of each other, Akam and Rezar went for their finish, but the ref stepped in and called the match.
Paul Ellering then announced that all roads lead to San Antonio. They don’t care if it is DIY or The Revival, the Authors of Pain are on a seek and destroy mission to become the next NXT Tag Team Champions.

Asuka cut a promo and said Peyton Royce and Billie Kay need to be careful because they are no competition to her. Nikki Cross was shown off to the side of the stage laughing at the champ.

Bobby Roode defeated Tye Dillinger, Andrade “Cien” Almas, and Roderick Strong in a fatal four-way elimination match to become the new number one contender for the NXT Championship
It was announced before the match started that the winner would get their title shot against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio. Corey Graves did the Bobby Heenan gimmick and picked everyone to win the match. The match began at 8:30, which gave them a lot more time than the usual NXT TV main event.
The first hot move of the match was Almas laying out both Dillinger and Strong in the middle of the ring. Almas went for a top rope moonsault, but both men rolled out of the way. However, Almas landed on his feet and went immediately for a standing moonsault on Strong, but he got his knees up.
Everyone was going for covers as soon as they could. Strong knocked Roode out of the ring, where Almas and Dillinger already were, and did a twisting dive over the top onto all three men. Back in the ring, Roode tried to roll-up Strong with his feet on the ropes, but the referee wouldn’t count despite their being no disqualifications.
We got the stacked up superplex, with Dillinger being the man powerbombing the pile. Almas hit his corner knees, but when he dragged Dillinger into the middle, Strong hit a Sick Kick on Almas for the pin.
Strong and Dillinger worked really well together, while Roode caught a breather on the floor. After a fun two minutes, Dillinger hit the Tye Breaker out of nowhere for the pin on Strong.
Then there were two. The two men who faced off at NXT TakeOver: Toronto were now facing off one more time with a shot at the championship on the line.
Dillinger looked good here, hitting one great move after another and getting several near falls. However, Roode took his head off with a clothesline. Roode went outside and grabbed a chair, but as he approached his foe, Dillinger nailed a superkick! Roode kicked out after Dillinger made the cover.
Dillinger went for another Tye Breaker, but Roode got out and hit a spinebuster. Roode went for the Impaler DDT, but Dillinger got out and hit the Tye Breaker! Dillinger made the cover yet again, and Roode kicked out again. Dillinger went for a third Tye Breaker, but Roode slipped out and deposited Dillinger groin-first on the corner. Dillinger fell down and Roode became the number one contender with the impaler DDT!
It has happened and now, five weeks from this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio, Shinsuke Nakamura will defend the NXT Championship against Bobby Roode! We are on the road to Takeover, what will happen next week? Until then, have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays!
