WWE Main Event results: Ricochet vs. Alexander, Doudrop vs. Brooke

  • James Cox

As usual, this week’s WWE Main Event matches were taped before Monday’s Raw.

Doudrop defeated Dana Brooke (5:00)

Well, this wasn’t actually too bad and an overall solid five minute outing. This was a good return to the ring for Brooke having not been featured since June and a Main Event debut victory for Doudrop.

The latter burst onto the main roster back in June after having worked as Piper Niven in NXT UK. She looked good against Brooke, only leaving her feet when she was properly nailed by Brooke and using some big power moves to get the job done.

Although this week marked the dubious honour of working on Main Event for the first time, it was actually a pretty big week for Doudrop as she also got married. She took to Twitter to post some pictures, so a huge congrats to her.

Brooke was good here and has really improved over the last few years. In the end, she missed a top rope swanton leading to Doudrop following up with a running splash for the win.

Ricochet defeated Cedric Alexander (7:21)

Ricochet was “Mr. Main Event” for a while, but hasn’t been on the show for a few weeks. His patience beggars belief and his attitude always seems so positive. He is way too good for this and this match proved it once again.

Alexander is without a win since May and has been rudderless since The Hurt Business died a death. He and Shelton Benjamin have been shuffled to the back of the deck and are both too good for that.

This was all action throughout, going through a commercial break and then speeding up to near falls and finishing moves at the end.

Alexander hit a beautiful Michinoku driver for a seriously close two. After some back and forth, Ricochet stunned him with a sweet looking reverse rana, finishing him off with the Recoil.

Final Thoughts:

This week saw two good matches, a nice return for Brooke and a debut win for Doudrop. The closer we get to the end of the Hulu deal, the more I fear for some of these wrestlers but this was a fun show. Ricochet and Alexander had a match that would have been better than 90% of what was on Raw last week.
