WWE Main Event results: Ricochet & Mansoor vs. Tozawa & Gulak

This week’s show marked the debut of Kevin Patrick on commentary alongside Byron Saxton.

Retribution (T-Bar and Mace) (w/ Ali) defeated Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado)

The size difference was made out to be a big deal early as the LHP kicked T-Bar’s legs to bring him down to size. That advantage didn’t last long as you might expect. Metalik moved well when he got the hot tag but a springboard into nowhere changed that quickly. A double chokeslam bomb got Mace the pin on Metalik to end a fairly meh match. It’s hard to take Retribution seriously with the ridiculous masks.

Ricochet and Mansoor defeated Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak

Fun fact: Mansoor hasn’t lost a singles or tag match since an August 2019 NXT house show against Dominic Dijakovic. You might be thinking, “He probably didn’t wrestle that much.” Would you believe 44 according to Cagematch.net?

As is the case on a lot of these shows, this felt like a house show opener. Mansoor took most of the match and was in peril until he got the hot tag. And, as is the case on a lot of these Main Event shows, Ricochet looked great while he was in there. He took out Gulak with a spinning jump to the outside of the ring. Back inside, Mansoor hit a spinebuster and a slingshot neckbreaker to pin Tozawa.

Final Thoughts:

You pretty much know what you’re getting into with Main Event: two matches under ten minutes that really don’t mean anything and a lot of Raw/SmackDown recaps you can fast forward. Patrick was pretty vanilla on commentary as you might expect. With he and Saxton, it’s essentially generic commentary you would hear on a video game.
