WWE Main Event results: John Morrison vs. Angel Garza

This week’s show was taped at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California, before Monday’s WWE Raw.

T-Bar defeated Drew Gulak (4:50)

Not much to this one, but they did fine in what should have been a squash.

T-Bar was working solo again this week now that he and Mace have been broken up by the draft. And, coincidentally, this is probably the last we’ll see of Gulak on Main Event for some time as he was drafted to SmackDown last week.

A move to a new roster surely has to equal newer and brighter horizons for Gulak. To say the last 12 months have been unkind to his character is an understatement. Gulak has only three wins to his name since Survivor Series, where he was, yes, the Gobbledy Gooker.

T-Bar never seems to be booked in the right way and this was another example of why. They should have him steamroll through guys like Gulak. He’s tall, lean and strong and it would only take a little suspension of disbelief to get him over.

The finish saw Gulak try to topple T-Bar with a knee strike, but he shrugged it off and hoisted him up on his shoulders for Eyes Wide Shut and a victory. Clearly no one is counting, but I’m pretty sure T-Bar is undefeated in singles competition.

John Morrison defeated Angel Garza (w/ Humberto Carrillo) (7:43)

Two very able performers did a good job here, but this was disposable, house show fodder.

No Miz seems to mean purgatory for Morrison. Who would have thought that a foray into Dancing with the Stars would mean a veteran like Morrison would have to be demoted to working this show each week. Yet, that’s the state of affairs here at the end of 2021.

Likewise, Garza has seen enough of Main Event to last him a lifetime, but he at least has also been drafted to SmackDown which means he should wave goodbye to this show for the time being.

Morrison tried Starship Pain extremely early which made it look like he might lose this one, but it didn’t turn out that way. Carrillo distracted him and he then ate a superkick from Garza before the break.

It looked for all the world that Garza was going to get his hand raised after the commercials. He ran wild and tore his pants off, but missed a beautiful springboard moonsault that allowed Morrison to finish him off by finally connecting with Starship Pain. 

Final Thoughts:

The draft should certainly freshen things up here on Main Event, but the likes of Garza, Carrillo and Gulak are losses if the alternatives are T-Bar and Morrison at half-mast. The women’s roster is continually overlooked for this show as are the plethora of young up-and-comers they have down in NXT and at the Performance Center.
