WWE Main Event results: Jeff Hardy & Ricochet vs. Elias & Jaxson Ryker

The Big Takeaways:
Angel Garza continued his winning start to 2021 with another victory over Humberto Carrillo while Elias and Jaxson Ryker won their first tag bout together against Jeff Hardy and Ricochet in a very fun match.
Show Recap:
Angel Garza defeated Humberto Carrillo (5:06)
Tom Phillips noted that Garza had driven Carrillo face first into exposed concrete last year on Raw in an event that Samoa Joe said “did not do any favors” for Carrillo!
But underselling seems par for the course with these two. Despite Garza and Carrillo having faced off on Main Event on numerous occasions over the past year, this was the first time that these announcers referenced the fact that they are cousins. As you might expect from two cousins who are only three years apart in age, they worked really well together.
In the end, it felt like they were told to go home earlier than the natural pace of the match would have suggested. Garza caught Carrillo with a high knee to the face and quickly applied the Wing Clipper for the win.
It remains to be seen what kind of futures these two will have, but it’s highly unlikely either gets anywhere near the Royal Rumble this Sunday.
Elias & Jaxson Ryker defeated Jeff Hardy & Ricochet (8:13)
This was very good for a Main Event match and felt a lot like a PPV opener. Everything was 100 mph and although Ryker is still very much learning, everyone played their part well here.
Hardy and Ricochet are a good pairing as a babyface tag team who will easily get over with a live crowd. Ricochet worked really hard here, taking most of the match until Hardy got the hot tag.
As expected, Ryker is being portrayed as a big man with lots of power moves in his arsenal, but probably could slow down a bit more as a couple of things here were a little sloppy.
Things got fairly complicated by the end as both teams were using blind tags and the referee was unable to keep control of who the legal men were. Ryker and Elias combined to take out Ricochet with Ryker nailing him with a spinning side slam for the three count as Hardy was just too late to break it up.
It will be interesting to see where they go with these two teams as Elias and Ryker have been paired together for a while now. It would make sense to run with them and see what comes of it.
Final Thoughts:
A really good tag match and a perfectly fine opener made Main Event very enjoyable this week. Whether any of these men is on the card on Sunday night remains to be seen, but having them do this again on this show next week wouldn’t be so bad.
