WWE Main Event results: EC3 loses on his show debut

The Big Takeaway: In a match that was virtually identical to their bout last week, Rezar defeated No Way Jose for the second week running. Apollo Crews then defeated EC3 in a mediocre offering.
**********
Rezar (w/ Drake Maverick) defeated No Way Jose (5:30)
They could have run a replay of last week’s match from Main Event and I genuinely wouldn’t have noticed. This was almost move for move the same match as the one before, running at about a minute longer.
So, just like last week, instead of giving Rezar the chance to look like a real heavyweight threat, he beat up Jose and then spent more than half the match using rest holds.
Rezar had pinned Jose after a big boot and a chokeslam a week ago. This week, it was a clothesline and a chokeslam. Subtle difference, same outcome. I’m not sure what this achieved or why they did a rematch that displayed such little ambition or creativity.
Apollo Crews defeated EC3 (6:47)
I could almost hear the inevitable collective groan when people read the headline of this show recap.
I hear you. We’re all asking the same things: Why is EC3 on this show? Why did he lose? Why did he lose to someone with such little currency? How can they be handling NXT talent like EC3 so misguidedly on the main roster? The list goes on.
Well, anyway, he lost. And the match was okay, but it was nothing spectacular. EC3 used a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall and then they collided in the middle. Crews got up first, got the heat, and came off the top rope with a crossbody for a two count.
EC3 then got some hope, but Crews kicked out of the One Percenter. He then stopped EC3 in his tracks with an enzuigiri before finishing him with the standing moonsault.
