WWE Macon & Lexington live results: AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin

Submitted by reader Matthew Morris from Raw’s Sunday night house show in Macon, Georgia

– Asuka defeated Mandy Rose (w/ Paige and Sonya Deville)

Despite repeated interference from Paige and Deville at ringside, Asuka was able to overcome Absolution and defeat Rose via rear naked choke. Asuka got a great reaction here.

– Akira Tozawa defeated Jack Gallagher

Tozawa won with a top rope senton.

– Heath Slater & Rhyno defeated The Revival

Rhyno got the win after hitting a spinebuster. He and Slater played to the crowd well, with Rhyno doing a tremendous job keeping everyone excited and engaged. Solid heat and top tag work from The Revival as well. Surprised to see them lose here.

– Braun Strowman defeated Kane

Strowman won via running powerslam. This match was one of the best of the night. Strowman came out to a huge reception, but not the biggest of the night.

There was a good spot where Strowman sent Kane flying into the ring steps, which were placed vertically in the middle of the entrance ramp by Kane. Strowman is a great babyface badass, was very interactive with the fans, and came ready to put on a show.

– Raw Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus defeated Titus O’Neil & Apollo and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a triple threat match to retain their titles

Fun, entertaining, and properly-paced match. Lots of big spots, near falls, and comedic relief. Titus Worldwide came within inches of winning the tag gold many times. Good stuff.

– Next was an angle with Bray Wyatt and “Woken” Matt Hardy. Wyatt came to the ring and called out Hardy, with Hardy responding by speaking of Wyatt’s empty vessel. He said Wyatt will change mentally and physically, even calling him “Broken” Bray Wyatt to a huge pop from the crowd.

Hardy started to say the word “change” repeatedly, prompting the crowd to chant it with him. He then entered the ring and continued to persuade Wyatt to join him. Wyatt laughed maniacally, considered it, and shook Hardy’s hand — only to attempt a Sister Abigail. Hardy quickly countered and laid Wyatt out in the ring with a Twist of Fate.

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks to retain her title

Bliss retained by rolling Banks up with a handful of tights. They put on a crisp and fluid championship match. Bliss became frustrated by not being able to put Banks away, throwing a tantrum in the middle of the ring. Banks came close with the Bank Statement twice, but Bliss got the cheap win in the end.

Bliss began to attack Banks after the match until Nia Jax made the save.

– Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Finn Balor defeated Elias, Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas

Reigns was super over in Macon. He came out to a huge ovation from the crowd, getting very minimal boos in the background. He was definitely the most over wrestler of the night. Rollins and Balor both got great receptions as well.

The match opened with a performance from Elias, who had a mix of cheers and boos. He began to make fun of Macon, with the Miztourage coaxing him on. He was finally interrupted by Balor.

It was overall a good match and sent the crowd home happy. Reigns, Rollins, and Balor all got their signature moves in before Elias was put down with a spear from Reigns.

– The New Day defeated Rusev & Aidan English

New Day came out with Easter baskets and threw candy to the crowd. Of course, Rusev and English did some promo work about Easter and Rusev Day. New Day won with the Midnight Hour on English.

– Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Dolph Ziggler

They did mat wrestling and counters to start things out slow with some old school house show stalling. Nakamura teased hitting the Kinshasa a couple times before finally connecting.

– SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos defeated Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable to retain their titles

This was a pretty well-paced match. Benjamin and Gable had a couple good heat segments. The Usos eventually hit double superkicks on both guys and pinned Gable.

– United States Champion Randy Orton defeated Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal in a triple threat match to retain his title

It started out with Orton and Roode teaming up to try and go after Mahal, but he kept bailing and avoiding them. The finish was Orton hitting an RKO on Mahal. They had a little bit of fun in a couple spots playing off Orton’s birthday.

– Tye Dillinger and Mojo Rawley went to a no contest as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ran in

There was boring action between Dillinger and Rawley for a few minutes until Owens and Zayn showed up. They attacked both guys and tried to cut a promo, but WWE kept cutting the mic off. Adam Pearce and Jamie Noble finally came out with some referees and got them out of the ring.

– SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch & Naomi defeated Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan and Natalya, Carmella & Lana in a triple threat match

Lynch was in for a long heat spot where she got beat up by both heel teams until Lana and one of the Riott Squad members started fighting. That let Lynch get the hot tag to Charlotte. Things ended up breaking down and Charlotte won with the Figure Eight on Morgan.

– WWE Champion AJ Styles defeated Baron Corbin to retain his title

Styles got a big pop and seemed to work fine with no issues. He did have some of the kinesiology tape on his left shoulder. Corbin got lots of heat. He had a couple near falls, then Styles hit the Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
