WWE Aberdeen, Scotland, live results: AJ Styles, Becky Lynch, heel Randy Orton

Submitted by Kris Wright from the AECC

– Intro was a fan for a Network clip (Swerved won). They made a big push for the Network with flyers dispatched on every seat and the ring announcer bringing it up often. Then, Daniel Bryan in a pre-tape asked the fans if they were ready, place exploded with Yes chants.

– IC Champion Dolph Ziggler def. The Miz w/ Maryse

At one point, Maryse is thrown out for slapping Dolph. At one point, Maryse returns but ends up distracting Miz by accident which leads to a superkick by Dolph for the win. Crowd erupts after almost 20 minutes of opening action. Good, hot match to kick off the show.

– Smackdown Tag Team Champions Rhyno & Heath Slater def. The Usos and Breezango in a three-way to retain

The crowd was crazy for the Usos. We got a minor ECW chant, but crowd were pretty dead to anyone but the Usos. Rhyno gores Jimmy for the win in a short seven minute match.

– Jack Swagger def. Curt Hawkins

Curt came out after Jack and said he was in “Ireland”. Match starts and Jack does a body press into a Patriot Lock. The match lasted 10 seconds. A lot the families in attendance were dumbfounded at what they saw.

– Nikki Bella and Naomi def. Carmella and Natalya

Crowd was dead for this. The women seemed to get a bit lost in the middle portion, running in and hitting half-baked clothleslines on each other and wasn’t sure who was legal. Nikki hit her new non-Rack Attack finisher on Carmella for the win in just over seven minutes.

– Baron Corbin def Kalisto

Baron attacks Kalisto as he springs into the ring during his entrance. Lots of fighting outside for the majority. Kalisto builds to a suicide dive outside the ring. A few seconds later, they get back in the ring which leads to End Of Days by Corbin for the win in five minutes.

– American Alpha & Kane def. Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton

Crowd went crazy for the Wyatts and Orton. American Alpha were quick-tagging and working on Luke. The TV storylines confused the crowd for who to cheer for here. Kane went for a double chokeslam on Orton and Wyatt. Harper enters the ring and superkicks him. Big schmozz happens and Orton RKOs Jordan. At some point, Kane chokeslams Harper for the pin.

– Hype Bros, def. The Ascension

Mojo battled Viktor for most of this short match. Hype Ryder for the win in five minutes.

– Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch def. Alexa Bliss

Crowd were brought back into life by Becky. Back and forth action for 15 minutes. Bliss and Lynch attempted a few schoolboys on each other before Becky rolls around to The Dis-Arm-Her for the win.

– WWE Champion AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose

AJ was adored by the crowd. AJ working on Ambrose’s mid-section for the beginning to set up the Clash. Ambrose worked hard to get the crowd to an even-split of chanting for both. Ambrose comeback led to huge dueling chants. Dive over the top by Dean. Soon after, another dive out and into the crowd. It returns to the ring, AJ gets a Calf Crusher on Dean. Dean reaches the rope. Phenomenal Forearm attempt into a Dirty Deeds attempt, reversals by both. Styles Clash hit, and the crowd totally bought that it was the finish.

AJ loosens turnbuckle pad and distracts the ref who misses an Ambrose schoolboy. AJ grabs the mic outside and says he wants to be counted out and goes to leave. Dean tracks him down and we go back in the ring, Phenomenal Forearm by AJ, pin and retains the title. Straight after the bell, Dean hits the Dirty Deeds on AJ to send the crowd home happy. 16-18 minutes of a great match.

**********

Crowd was almost completely at capacity. Much better than previous tours of Aberdeen with a great atmosphere.
